I think you’re giving unwarranted and unusual protection to a player who has underperformed and cost the place of a player who has performed. Weird love in, he was awful today Being a goalkeeper is a unique position in the team, when they make a mistake it is very much on show, whereas outfield players often have a team mate who will mop it up, and it's quickly forgotten. He didn't ask to come here and take Belly's place, I would imagine that Belshaw probably cringes when he hears his name being chanted during the match. Belly has a strong bond with Annsi and Ward (goalkeepers' Union), and I would imagine that he's supportive to Balcome, as he's a decent bloke. JB is the one who has caused this, would have been fine to bring a young goalkeeper in as cover, but unfair to throw him into the spotlight in the midst of the unrest. Great and sensible post. It’s a massive case of deflection and projection plus add in some my way or the highway and that’s it, in a nutshell.

Oh pipe down you wet sheet of tissue paper, I’m surprised you’re not still sulking and sucking your thumb and boycotting rovers because we got Barton as manager. I am. And yet you're still the one coming off looking like more of a dick. Impressive. Would have backed you all the way in the past and even with your digs at me but now you have stated you wish us to lose, I think the title of biggest dxxk and hypocrite is, hands down, yours. I am sad to say that too as I used to respect your opinions , prior to that bombshell

He’s been poor, he was in lg 2 last season! Barton has personally fell out with Belly and will never back down now. But more than that it’s rocked the harmony of the dressing room and caused friction with the fans which we do not need and looks will send us down at this rate. Belshaw was also in lg 2 last season. On the evidence so far he has filed to make the step up. I am not a great Barton fan but on this occasion he was right to bring in another keeper to challenge one who was underperforming. 'rocked the harmony of the dressing room? How do you know that? 'Caused friction with the fans? Fans at fault here for their love in with a mediocre goalkeeper. He wasn't brought in to challenge. He was brought in to replace. It was also the have to play the first 3 games that have annoyed the fans. Challenging would have been coming in, training and proving he was better than Belshaw on the pitch.

Thing is, certain things spur us to make decisions, you made yours then, I've made mine now.

But your mate Balcombe looks a step down on Belshaw, even his biggest fan must admit he had a shocker yesterday, where he seemed to just panic whenever the ball came into the box. How can he marshall the defence when he's struggling just to catch a cross? He did not 'have a shocker'. He mis-punched one cross and for that you and others get on his back (it was like th Thatchers end were waiting or a mistake to ponce on). Neither goal came from his mistake. He made two excellent saves in the second half when he was exposed by the defence. Given that he had to contend with the Thatchers end idiots as well as Burton, I thought he showed great mental strength. Let's hope Barton does not cave into fan pressure and bring back Belshaw next week. What about the shot he spilled to the striker who, fortunately, was offside? He punched around half the crosses you'd expect a competent goalie to catch.

It's all getting a bit unnecessary in here, it's often the same when we're on a bad run of form. Let's hope Barton picks the best players for each position based on merit and motivation. Getting on the back of our own players though, we used to laugh at the shy teds for that.

With a loan goalkeeper, you can't bring them on for the last 15 minutes for a few games, to give them the opportunity to sample first team football and show what they've got. How would we feel if Jed Ward had been sitting on the bench for every game at Hungerford? We'd probably say that he may as well stay with Rovers, and sit on our bench - luckily he's getting match experience every week. I can see the reason for Brentford requesting this, although I think it meant that Balcombe started off under extra pressure, which is detrimental to everybody.

You’re confusing me with someone who gives a toss what a little gaggle of aging hand-wringing loser lefties think. I'm really not. Ok, leave it there then. Ride off on your white horse and have a good polish of your armour 🤣

I do agree that it was a bizarre decision to have him but, once here, he needs support and not undermining. Looks like my inability to go has done me a favour, i would rather live with my memories of the good times than hear our support, having a dig at one of our team

Nailed it, start winning and all this goes away, i had really hoped that the Ipswich game was a turning point. Then again, Burton are on a good run

Hugo, please do not take anything i say, not to you, as personal. I actually do respect you, even if you wish us to lose, you own it and there are not many that would do that. I only had beef with one poster here but i let that go. Call it karma, universal balance or whatever but i CBA to be and stay angry but i also reserve the right not to read their posts nor react to them. I doubt you will care but i just wanted to make that clear

Yes, he made a mistake - but not so surprising when having to deal with the idiot 'fans' behind him! Yet if you analysed Belshaw's performances this season there have been too many shockers to remember! I notice you fail to mention the to great saves Balcombe made - neither of which I would have expected Belshaw to make. He punched around half the crosses you'd expect a competent goalie to catch. Generally his punching has been good over the games he has played. He has a good reach to get over the top o both defenders and attackers. Belshaw has a tendency to stay on his line in these situations and hope the defenders clear - very risky with our current defence.

The atmosphere yesterday was appalling. Especially from the Blackthorn end. Got outsang by 300 Albion fans at home. I was stood behind the dug outs on the East Terrace and I didn’t hear what was coming out of the Thatchers End. All I heard was from the Burton lot when they were ahead, it was all aimed at JB. Id have said the atmosphere was quiet and subdued but it may have been different in different parts of the ground. UTG!
