And Sainsbury can't just walk in and out of contracts as they see fit. I work for a large company and our employment contracts are our saving grace, as the firm have to abide by them rigidly at all times.

Maybe we should gelt like 200 hundred of us (men only I'm afraid) head to a local Sainsburys and have the worlds largest circle jerk in the fruit and veg aisle.

And Sainsbury can't just walk in and out of contracts as they see fit. They can. And they have. Nobody's going to be banged up in prison for this. It's just about negotiations and tactics now it has entered the litigation phase. It seems to me that a lot of people seem to have misunderstood the idea of a legally-binding contract. It doesn't mean that if you fail to comply with it, then THE LAW will make you do so. It just means that the offended party (Nick Higgs, BRFC) will have to resort to legal action.

Nobody is bigger than the law I admire your confidence in the British legal system, but fear in a David v Golliath case of this type it's unfortunately somewhat naive.

Legal action or the law, call it what you wish....they can still be found in breach, which will cost them. So yes, they can walk away, but not without a penalty

I have also shunned Sainsbury to the tune of some £2000 pa which now goes to their main competitors. If 10,000 of us did similarly this would equate to £20 million which set against their yearly pre tax profit of £230 million (I believe) would hurt them. So yes we should consider drawing attention to this after consulting with BSS. They have decided not to open hundreds of big stores because they fear that they won't be viable in the (near) future, I think Rovers supporters boycotting S#burys will make them even less keen to build at The Mem.
p.s. I'm an Asdle shopper !
