Hi in response to the earier request from pirateman Here's the letter I've sent to the executives of Sainsbury's feel free to change adapt, share as necessary. Mine have gone recorded delivery - so someone has to bloody well sign for it. it may have no effect, but I would imagine our woes are not even on their radar.... exceutives names and roles: David Tyler - Chairman Mike Coupe - Chief executive John Rogers - Chief financial officer Matt Brittin - Non-executive director Mary Harris - Non-executive director Gary Hughes - Non-exectutive director John Mcadam - Non-exective director Jean Tomlin - Non-executive director Susan Rice - Non-executive director [Name of CEO or other director] Sainsburys HQ 33 Holburn London EC1N 2HT Date: [insert date here] Your name and address [insert here] Dear [insert name here] I am writing to seek clarification regarding the statement that you have published on your corporate website that states one of your key values as being 'Making a positive difference to our community' in the context of the currently reported alleged dispute between Bristol Rovers FC and yourselves, for an approved supermarket build at Horfield in Bristol. You will be aware that from my understanding, a contract was signed in good faith between yourselves and Bristol Rovers FC and other involved parties for the purchase of land for the build of a Sainsbury's supermarket at the site of Bristol Rovers FC current ground. It has been alleged in the press that Sainsbury's no longer wish to complete and honour the contract. Obviously stakeholders such as football supporters and the wider community are not privy to the details of the contract or any ongoing negotiations, however if this decision by Sainsbury's to not fulfil its obligations or indeed spirit of the contract is true, the impact will be not only the loss of a welcome and hard fought for retail addition to the local community, but also will jeopardise the funding of a the build of a new football Stadium for Bristol Rovers; also there will be a significant loss of investment and jobs associated with the new stadium development at the University of West of England campus in South Gloucestershire, that currently has full planning and support of the parties involved. The financial and viable future of a well-supported local community football club must surely hang in the balance as a result of the current stalemate, that appears to be caused by the deliberate change of heart from Sainsbury's. Many people in Bristol, and not just football fans, worked very hard to lobby and support the Sainsbury's application for planning at this site, and feel seriously let down by a leading supermarket that appears to have scant regard for the local community or indeed its moral obligation to honour contractual agreements that we assume were made in good faith. A blue-chip multi-million PLC that is a household name business such as Sainsbury's may feel it's morally right to renege on agreements at the drop of a hat, but I cannot understand how you can portray such a contradictory image of yourselves as an ethical business on your website. Please could you respond either publicly, via the press, or in person, or directly to me to explain how your tens if not hundreds of thousands of stakeholders in the north half of Bristol have been seriously let down by a business that likes to portray an image of having the moral high ground and 'values', and how a contract is only a contract when it suits big business. Currently the silence is deafening, and it is a shameful embarrassment for you in the city of Bristol. Yours faithfully [insert name here] Also here is the link to the Sainsbury's social media page: www.j-sainsbury.co.uk/media/social-media/Not a twitter user myself, but I guess a #shamesburys, and making a presence on their @sainsburys would go doen well?

Banners at Macclesfield to get exposure on Bt Sport perhaps. finally someone who is talking sense. We need public exposure of what Sainsburys are doing. All the other guff iv read on this thread will only hurt the poor workers of Sainsburys and public bystanders just trying to do their weekly shop. It's pathetic. A large banner the size of our surfer flag won't be missed on BT, it may even get a mention by the commentators bringing about a news story.

Too late now for anything to be organised at the match, I suppose, especially a surfer flag, but everyone has a few orange Sainsbury's bags knocking around at home. 700 of those held up by everyone in the away end would be very distinctive on the telly, would be noticed, and would be commented on.

How does Landersgas idea hurt Sainsbury's workers or impact on the public?
It is this sort of selective reading/listening that causes so many problems in life, in my opinion.
If people read and obtain full facts and comment/act accordingly it makes life so much easier.
