Home League Average was 6630 Away Gas League ave was 878 Not bad for a non-league side... How does that compare with our last 5 seasons (in Lge 2 and Lge 1)?

I find it strange that Rovers averages are higher when the club is on it's knees.
Our home and away average is higher now despite being in The Conference than it was when we were in League One under Trollope, that was despite playing the likes of Leeds, Forest, Southampton, Norwich and Leicester.
Our averages were better when we had that awful team under Graydon than they were when we first moved back to Bristol too.
Our crowds are still poor and I do cringe when Gasheads take the water out of other clubs crowds, Bristol is a city of 500,000 people and over 1,000,000 if you include the outer area's.
Both our's and City's are poor considering the size of the place.

Both our's and City's are poor considering the size of the place. To be fair our average attendance was over 7k in league 1 in the two seasons before the one which we went down. Then it dropped to 6.2k. We haven't had a good season since until this one so makes sense that it's increased slightly.

don't forget away crowds at the mem.
I know the average was over 400 away fans per game last season, but only just over 200 this season.
I suspect it was a lot more in Lge 1.
Makes a big difference and shows how home attendances have stayed strong as we go down divisions.

Home League Average was 6630 Away Gas League ave was 878 That away following is incredible. I'm guessing the average home attendance about 2500? So that's about 33% By my adding up.

I think someone posted average away attendances for the top 5 divisions last year, would be interesting to see where we come on that list, wouldn't be surprised if we out perform quite a few league 1 and league 2 teams!

I would hazard a guess that in League 2 Pompey and Plymouth, and possibly Luton average more In League 1, City(Only just, and they've had some big away days at Coventry and MK Dons) and Sheffield United average more In The Championship I reckon our average is better than Wigan, Blackpool, Rotherham, Millwall, Fulham Bournemouth and Brentford. I wouldn't be surprised if our average is up there with the likes of Swansea, Hull and Q.P.R in The Premier League too

League Two average away attendances: 1. Luton - 1,211
2. Portsmouth - 1,019
3. Plymouth - 775
So Rovers would be third highest in League Two, albeit still a fairly long way behind the top two. In League One: 1. Sheffield United - 1,7062. City - 1,3763. Preston - 1,3724. Barnsley - 1,0695. Bradford - 1,0606. Coventry - 1,0037. Chesterfield - 9848. Oldham - 719So Rovers would slot comfortably into 8th highest in League One. I don't have up to date figures for the Championship, but as of March 1st, the only clubs Rovers had a higher average than were Reading ( 848), Bournemouth ( 722), Wigan ( 720), and Blackpool ( 627). The only other club with a sub-1000 average was Charlton ( 927). Thirteen clubs - including Fulham ( 1,219) and Brentford ( 1,225) - had averages of 1,200+. I couldn't find any good data on Premiership averages. For further perspective, last season in the Conference, Luton averaged an impressive 1,086.

Luton's in a good location to get to a lot of games though to be fair. I always find Plymouth's following amazing considering how far they have to travel to nearly all of them!

On the flip side I wonder what Reading's fan excuses are for having such a poor away following, it's hard to believe we're taking more away from home than them given our league status and location.

Cool stats clausewitz. Chesterfield and Oldham suprise me. Also the teds have an impressive figure. quite a few big local games for the fist 2. and geographically good places to be. Chesterfield are on a promotion bounce as well. still good figures though! City is a weird one. they had something crazy for Coventry [almost 5k?], and lots at MK franchise [twinning arrangement?] but below average for others. They tend to mobilise in a very OTT manner for a couple of games a season then get nothing special for the other 21 games.

The Oxford English Dictionary actually uses it as a descriptive example of the word 'Shithole' What I mean is that their fanbase is not that 'deep' and historic really. yes, nice new stadium and recent success, but I went to Uni there and it never struck me as a very sporty town. More a commuter town.
