Clarke said he wouldn't consider leaving Rovers until he'd achieved his target of League 1 football. IMO, there's no mid-table consolidation in football, if you're good enough then you go for it. Teams change all the time and footballers and managers come and go. You only get a team to peak once in a while so take it as far as you can while you can and replace the odd player when needed without rocking the boat. DC seems more ambitious than many of our supporters it seems. P'raps he's raising the expectations that Paul Buckle lowered for us. here we go. No mate Id just happily take mid table as respite from the storm. What do newly promoted teams go for? Secure yourselves as a league 2 team. I think we need to do just that to begin with, never forget what happened to us. We haven't been a secure league 2 team for years not just one year.

Couldn't agree more but I think DC is right in targeting play off positions. Aim high but be realistic if we fall just short. Fall short of just staying up and you get relegated. I'll be happy with anything from 12th up next year.

If you aim for mid-table consolidation with a team that's capable of much more then you'll need to lose on purpose :-) So you hang around in mid-table for a season thinking next year's the year, lose a few key players the following season and find yourself in a relegation scrap again. You have to keep momentum going or it'll grind to a halt.

I just think that losing only 5 games last season was not just about formation and fitness, but also about attitude. DC has said many times that he needed to turn around our losing mentality and he certainly did that last season.
I'd probably be pleased with a safe mid-table finish, but I actually think that we could achieve much more with this manager, players and a few additions.

Still think it all comes down to the Sainsbury's verdict, lose that and we have the wonga loan to repay plus probably Sainsbury's legal fees, that's got to hit our wage budget.
On the other win and we suddenly have £30m+ coming our way and both sets of legal fees paid & so no wonga loan to worry about.

Where's richhertford when you need him? We need some GROUNDBREAKING goals! Mind you from the Wycombe troll's thread there is plenty of groundbreaking to be done next season. Curlywurly, I'm here. I'll be back in a few months time with the all new ground-breaking goal! This does look like a thread I could easily get involved in. I am still enjoying the moment. A sort of afterglow! Good to see the open top bus didn't break down!

I'd be disappointed if we didn't make the play-offs at least next season.

I'd be disappointed if we didn't make the play-offs at least next season. Likewise. We will have one the biggest budgets, plenty of momentum from this season and a hungry manager. Can't see Clarke settling for mid-table mediocrity.

Yes can't understand how some are saying they are happy if we are mediocre.
I firmly believe we will go straight through the division and will be challenging to be champions, if we then fall short we can have another assault on the play offs.

Just don't want to do a Luton this time though- they had the momentum and looked as though they would go straight through L2 but lost it after Xmas and fell short by 3 points off the play offs - let's not follow their model this time !!

I think it had a lot to do with the other teams being part time, established non league, or just shyte. We lost too many games. Fitness, formation and attitude helps though.

We also drew far too many games that we should have won

top 10 and a 3rd round glamour tie in the fa cup would be a solid season

You can only look a season at a time and our aim must be Champions.Never aim for anything less!!! Is it realistic? That's another question which really can't be answered until we know the fate of the Court Case.

Play-offs would be great but finishing 8th in the first season back in the league wouldn't be the end of the world. Hopefully this year we won't have so many changes to the squad which should result in a better start to the season.

Not sure about that, some good teams in L2.Oh FFS...there's maybe one or two...half of them will change half their players in the off-season, some will gel immediately and some will flounder. Look at the table/squads in 13/14 vs 14/15 and you'll see anything can happen in 2015/16...if DC can get a squad together who can win 7 from the first 10 I reckon we'll go up in the top three..

The best way to ensure we don't go out of the league is to get promoted again. Why settle for anything less?
Ambition. Remember that word?
