Clarke said he wouldn't consider leaving Rovers until he'd achieved his target of League 1 football. IMO, there's no mid-table consolidation in football, if you're good enough then you go for it. Teams change all the time and footballers and managers come and go. You only get a team to peak once in a while so take it as far as you can while you can and replace the odd player when needed without rocking the boat. agree. I'm certainly not saying i demand play-offs next season, BUT you will often get 1 or 2 teams from the promoted teams who keep the momentum and carry on upwards. Not surprisingly it happens quite a lot because if you are organised, together, motivated, have a happy squad, are fit and scoring goals in one division there is a decent chance you can do the same in another. I did some stats a while back. will try to dig them out. This could be our chance. I'm fine with mid-table consolidation, but I wouldn't want us to pass up an opportunity to strengthen in Jan if doing ok and have a bit of cash to improve.

All this squeezing for one automatic promotion place has left me with the unshakable belief that this team have the mental fortitude to at least get into the top 7.
With the right additions, I don't write off automatic.
I'd be disappointed to come lower than top 10.

1)Top ten finish 2)Promotion 3)League 1 survival in new stadium - while looking for new investors to take over that will have the pockets to get us challenging for championship and potentially beyond

You can only look a season at a time and our aim must be Champions.Never aim for anything less!!! Is it realistic? That's another question which really can't be answered until we know the fate of the Court Case. Champions would be ground breaking...

Agree with this, you go out to win every game, aim for mid table? how do you even do that!? purposely lose when we get too high in the league Every game is a potential 3 points, only way to look at it

Every game is a potential 3 points until you go 2 goals behind in the 87th minute. You can go out to win every game, that's fine, but sometimes you get a flavour for how it's going to pan out earlier than the final whistle.

Should we wait and see how we are going to lineup/how pre season goes before the promotion predictions take hold? Merlins beard!

Win the JPT, vs. Swindle. Impossible. We could beat them en route but not in the final. We'll be playing a side from oop North in the final.

Since we won promotion I've been telling people who have asked how we're going to get on that id be amazed if we didn't finish in at least mid table. I won't be kicking off and calling for DCs head if we're not pushing for an automatic spot though. I can see us finishing somewhere between 4 th and 12 th.

No defo top 3 finish next season Short and to the point. Do you think the squad we've got now should finish top 3 and Clarke would have underachieved if we don't ? You seem very adamant that automatic promotion is a must and by your reply I'd say almost a given ??!!!

Yes I firmly believe in DC. He is very smart, very ambitious and gets the best out of his players. The squad as it is - no but he will have no qualms getting rid of those that don't cut the mustard and he will bring in the quality that will get us top 3. (NH has said that not all the budget will be spent in the summer so I also expect a boost to the squad in Jan also).
The players play for him, he has created a great spirit and we have momentum.

If we'd walked the Conference I could understand the optimisum in finishing in the top 3 but we made getting out of the Conference a bit of a struggle, so I can't see how we can be confident of outperforming Luton who didn't even make the Play Offs this season.
A top 10 finish will be a decent finish, which will be our best finish since our last promotion L?, unless DC makes some fantastic additions to the squad this summer.

Have to say I take no notice of pre season when judging how we will do next season. Remember Buckle's pre season? We looked sh** hot but that was as good as it got until he was gone.
