Seems to be in a bit of a melt down, I read a thread the other day where someone said this forum was irrelevant (or something along those lines) thought it was a bit harsh myself, as this forum seems a bit more light hearted, but very much still Rovers related!
But after the little meltdown, we might be seeing a few extra posters! Just hope they don't bring it down...

I went on the other day for the first time in months. Clicked on first thread in the list - was about ex-directors and olive branches. Let it go!

Both forums are valuable and have their place.
Many posters use and enjoy both and some are loyal to just one.
It's true they are serious and we are irreverent.
We should just accept and enjoy our differences.

T'other forum does suffer a bit from a sense of humour failure.........It's becoming more like Mumsnet everyday.

The other forum can be a depressing place, and it is surrounded by the followers of the ex director crew who are still trying to grind that axe away.
If KS bleated half as much as some of the others that follow him it's no wonder Higgs had him turfed out. There would be only so much I could take as well.
There are a few good posters on there but on the whole I prefer it here.

I am not sure there has been a lot of Sack the board there to be fair. There is a lot of talk about Sainsbury's and the effect on the club and some of the things Nick Higgs has said and quite rightly.
Someone was trying to post about Kevin Spencer and one of the other mods has set it to fall. I think we just want to move on from it (I still disagree with the action by NH) and dragging it up serves little purpose (although setting it to fall has been criticised

Very rarely post on the Sack the Board forum these days. Sad place it is. Sack tbone The other forum tends to be more concerned with the commercial aspects of the club than with the playing aspects and, yes, the majority (but not all) the posters have a clear and obvious dislike of the current board members, especially Nick Higgs. The issue on there at the moment is that the mods are locking threads which criticise an ex board member, whilst leaving open threads which criticise NH, GD, BB etc. My own view is that there has been an attempt at sh*t stirring by one poster regarding an ex-director and the mods are doing their best to close that topic down - I just wish they would take the same approach when the current board are criticised. I view both forums, seldom posting on either of them - the difference is basically that the other forum is dominated by the anti-board mob. That said, there are often humourous threads and discussions about the playing side of things but in my view the lesson is that this board should stick to team issues, humour and Shamesbury's.

I am not sure what trying to 'criticise' a bloke who can't go to games about what team he may or may not be watching is relevant to anything.
As for 'criticism' of GD, well he himself seems to have become rather critical of certain aspects of BRFC, maybe GD should be banned from The Mem.
Without wanting to tar this forum with a broad brush, many people who use this site were bored with the KS affair, people were called Kevinistas etc, etc, and didn't want to know or care about it.
A thread has quite simply been set to fall as it is old news, people want to move on from it and not have it dragged up (whatever our personal feelings) because it is not relevant to the BRFC and the situation we are in now and could be in, in a few days.
Imagine if we beat Sainsburys and people wanted to talk about Kevin Spencer, they would be criticised for trying to water on BRFC's good news.

I'm quite surprised by this censorship. It's amazingly hypocritical considering the amount of flack the old official forum got for manipulating threads that didn't toe the party line. The serious forum can't be taken seriously anymore.

That said, there are often humourous threads and discussions about the playing side of things but in my view the lesson is that this board should stick to team issues, humour and Shamesbury's. I take issue with some of this. As someone who took part in the discussions in 2006, had a legal run in with a then leading board member, someone who believes the current model of club ownership and financing is unsustainable, then to say we are more interested in the commercial aspects over the playing aspects is ridiculous. The whole point of running a commercially sustainable organisation is to be able to fund a sustainable professional football club, and all that goes with that. If you feel the two are separate then the charge of Ostrich sticks. The current debate over Kevin S, is silly and the mods were right to set it to fall. I know Kevin well and not only has he fallen out of love with BRFC he has moved away from Bristol. Its a dead issue now and there is zero value in debating his oersonal circumstance. There is value however in debating the attitude of the BoD who see fit to ban people who have the temerity to disagree with them. Given their relative performance over the last 6 years you would think they would value all the support they could muster and listen to opinions and advice. But then again they could always rely on Ostriches...right?
