Welcome in Clarkey! Presumably as initial cover for MM and TP but I wouldn't have thought MM will play 40+ games so there will be opportunities for the lad that's for sure. Also with Lockyer and Leadbitter and potentially Trotman our defence is looking strong. Build from the back as they say.

“There were other offers on the table from both league clubs as well as conference sides but the opportunity to join Rovers was too big to turn down. “It will be good to join up with Darrell again because he has already done a fantastic job at the club and it’s something I really want to be a part of moving forward. To see James’ first full Rovers interview, please click here. The defenders arrival is the first of the summer as Darrell Clarke bids to strengthen his side ahead of their return to the Football League and the Rovers boss told us he is happy with how things are going so far. “I tried to sign James in the last window from Woking but the fee was too high so we are delighted to bring him in on a free transfer. “He will add competition for places across the back four and is a welcome addition to the squad.” Rovers Chairman Nick Higgs added "I would like to welcome James to the club and we wish him every success during his time with us. It is interesting that Darrell was almost prepared to pay a fee for him in January. Sounds like Darrell thinks we have a bargain on our hands.
What does this mean for the others though? Maybe Trotman leaving with Lockyer being sub cb and Leadbitter being sub rb?

Listening to his interview he's got a good attitude and obvious came here to play football, not for a good wage.
Can only see him being a squad player but we will need cover, especially now we can have 7 on the bench again.

Good cover by the sounds of it.
And who knows, with full time coaching he might push for a spot in the first team at some point.
Good luck James!

Trust in DC. He knows what he is doing more than any armchair fan, and I don't mean to be derogatory about any fans or their views.

Welcome Clarke no.3.
Think that's the defence sorted now (providing Leadbitter signs and no one leaves).

It's interesting to note, that in the Royal Navy, anyone with the surname 'Clarke' is automatically given the nickname 'Nobby'. Why this is, I don't know.

It's interesting to note, that in the Royal Navy, anyone with the surname 'Clarke' is automatically given the nickname 'Nobby'. Why this is, I don't know. Nobby is the diminutive form of the name Norbert. It is also a nickname most commonly used in English for those with the surname Clark or Clarke.
The explanation given for the use of this nickname is that clerks (pronounced "clarks" in British English) in the City of London used to wear Nobby hats, a type of bowler hat. Alternative spellings include "Knobby" and "Clarke".
An alternative explanation for the name Nobby attached to the surname Clarke is thus: 16th century monks wrote letters for the illiterate. These monks were referred to as "Clerks". The outcome of so much writing causes calluses on the fingers "nobs" and therefore "Nobby Clerks" was born.Perhaps one of the most off-topic posts I have made on this forum...

I don't know much about the bloke, he didn't stand out in the away game against Woking but then again, nobody did.
Delighted that we are taking promising talent from lower down as opposed to the seasoned pros from league 1 etc
Welcome and good luck me clarke
