Surely if DC feels Leadbitter is good enough for league football then he'll offer him a contract he'll want to sign?
As far as Monkey being past it at 34 don't forget Cureton is still playing league football at 40,regardless DC must have thought he had at least another year in his tank.
LDV would now be a great signing but I can't see it happening.

Yes that is sad that he has left, I was kind of hoping he would stay, his FL experience of thel lower leagues would've been important for us in the coming season but it is not too be. His partnership with Lee Brown was the best we've had for a while, likeable guy, good footballer, model pro, never injured, chipped in with important goals and more importantly, he was part of a team, in only 1 season together, got us back into the FL. So, well done Andy and thank you so much for putting the smile back on the faces of the gas. Good luck and all the best.

All the best to Andy and a big thanks for his contribution.
On lower league wages, he's got to make it work for his family and give them priority so it's understandable.
One man guaranteed an ovation when he visits

It's a definite loss. Was one of our unsung heroes last season. His performance in the home game against Macclesfield still stands as one of the best individual performances of the season.

I thank Monkhouse for his efforts in getting us promoted at the first time of asking, but going against the grain a bit I was frustrated with him quite a few times this season due to his apparent unwillingness to get stuck in sometimes, and imo his over-reliance on Browner. People will say the left side worked well but in my opinion Brown shouldve been taking home half of Monky's wages most weeks on top of his own.
Again, shame he's going because it seems like he fitted in really well with the lads, but I'm quite excited to see who we can now bring in for the left side...hopefully a proper winger.

Real shame that but now lets nail a pacey leftie to link up with Browner DC will have to be careful here.... Perhaps Monkhouses' willingness to "cover" for Brown is what bought the best out in him. Just look at Instagram and you will see the Monkey/Brown love. If we go for someone too pacey and attacking then Browns flying runs down the left may have to be surpressed... Good Monkhouse, thanks for the committment. Over to you DC...... just reading this thread exactly what I was thinking. they worked well together because Monkey was NOT a pacey winger, and because the right hand side usually did have a pacey winger, with a defensive minded right back. football is as much as partnerships and balance as anything else.
