Depends whether we score enough goals, I'm relying on T bones son Matteee to come good and score twenty by Xmas, must keep Easter fit. We need another winger, and another creative midfielder. The defence is solid, and two keepers decent. Defensive midfield players we have in abundance, it's just creating enough chances and taking them will determine how we get on. Really looking forward to this season, come on Rovers!

SS is hardly an inexperienced kid surely he understands the role better than most of us posting our own views on a fans forum? We've 4 midfielders, 5 with Lockyer if pushed, that's enough for me. We're just weak on the wings in my view but there's still time for loan signings. Add a winger or 2 plus a young loanee striker and I doubt most of us expected much more this summer? This is the 3rd or 4th summer the OP's been similarly negative, I guess he gets depressed missing his football over the summer? I wonder if that's actually true? He is clearly a better footballer than posters on here but that doesn't mean he understands the role better at all. Some football fans are extremely knowledgeable about how the game should be played and of course watch/study the game. Our players are not beyond criticism, improvement or education, just because they get paid to play. Most of the best coaches in every sport have never competed at top level and a low number of top performers go on to teach. Stus all action approach will find himself caught out of position of he is in a 2 with Lines. Any coach worth their salt will work out quickly that he will chase a lost cause or his own mistake...therefore, for example he can be manipulated to an area of the pitch by chasing then his void can be exposed. It's not difficult when you know how. Also, I used to give stevek right stick for being what I thought was overly critical too often. I've since realised that stevek offers interesting slants on things always backed up with lengthy opinion and reasoning. does anyone else remember before he got injured how disciplined sinclair was in centre mid with mansell? both played as holding midfielders sometimes that frustrated supporters as i remember,,,stu will basically play however dc wants him too,,so i dont buy into this "chasing all over the pitch" stuff

I was answering Gashead85 post. Hardly getting depressed, I am in fact very much looking forward to this season BUT I have in my post given my opinion that at the present time there are too many unknowns to predict where we will finish. On to your points ,Stuart Sinclair plays a certain way and is great at what he does ,if you take the running all over the place out of his game then you cut his effectiveness by 50% possibly more. All I am saying is that if you play a Lines-Sinclair partnership as somebody suggested (not me!!) then you stand a good chance of being out numbered and over run. I agree with you that we are weak on the wings and you seem to agree with me that 3 signings are necessary. I just feel that if you are weak in a position at the start of a season then you should be signing either a permanent signingt OR a Season long loan. Other loans should IMO be in emergency. As regards your point about what most of us expected then don't shoot the messenger when the Manager says he wants to sign 4 or 5 players and that was before Monkhouse, Trotman or Balanta had left. I am sure from that statement most expected more than Lines,Clarke and Mantano!! I do however agree with you Toppergas that if we get 2 more wingers and a striker (not a young loanee one as we already have Lucas in that bracket and Taylor/Harrison and Blissett could all be considered young and inexperienced at this level.) then we will be in a reasonable position. As I have said how will we do..I don't know ,that is not being depressive, far from it,it is just being truthful. It could prove to be a great team in this League if the players who have not played at this level make the step up but don't mix up depression and honesty. It was me that mentioned that midfield combo getting over-run. Agree with you think we need at least 2 more in, as can see a few of the younger lads been loaned out at the start of the season, then maybe coming back into things after Xmas . Utg

2 players worry me for next season. Firstly Sinclair it is admirable to run all over the pitch for 90 minutes but has he the discipline to sit in central midfield to allow Lines to play the creator.i have my doubts I think his exuberance will take over and he will revert to the all action player you all love, leaving a massive gap in midfield. Secondlty it is Taylor admittedly he scored 20 plus last season, but his conversion rate was about 1 in 5,he is not going to get that number af chances in league 2 so he will have to learn how to make more of the opportunities he gets. Can he do it? I remain to be convinced How's the scouting going ?
