Ladies and gentlemen welcome aboard this Wild Speculation Airways flight to Here's-What-I-Recon-ville. During our long haul flight you'll be able to get some spectacular views of the Opinions Posing As Facts Valley and the I'm Not A Lawyer But This Is How It Is Mountains. Our in-flight movie will be The Armchair Judge in which a man in middle age with no legal training posts lot of wildly inaccurate things to an intetnet forum asserting them to be definite fact albeit they have no basis in reality. His catchphrase "I used to send legal letters for a living, trust me" is a hilarious turn for all the family - John Cussack stars. Ladies and gents we will be experiencing some turbulence during our flight as we pass over the Bay of Bullsh!t so please keep your seat belts fastened at all times. In the meantime please sit back relax and enjoy your trip. Here he goes. Mr Cantankerous Gas.

Am I correct in thinking this is for an appeal to claim damages rather than for the contract to be enforced? Yep. Won't be enough for the UWE, but £5m or so could go a long way in making the Mem a decent stadium, and the rest could go on the debt. Of course, that's if we win, which we won't. On what basis are you stating this to be true when it patently is not?

Yes Who's paying for it? And while you're at it, whose paying for the giant hole that is the wonga loan, and its £5,000 a week interest... I'm guessing it won't be you.

YESSS!! DOES THIS MEAN WE GET THE STADIUM! Yes but an order of the judgement we have to erect a statue of Craig Stanley bearing the banner "Club Legend" so ... y'know ... double edged sword.

It's fine, I'm about to start two threads one called We definitely won't win the appeal and the other We're definitely going to win the appeal. Whatever happens I'll bump the right one. Hmmm ... might have to start one called We could just be awarded damages.

I think there's a much better chance of us winning compensation than winning the original court case. I share your opinion.

Is that definite? I know that's what the post said, but they didn't say where they got there information. Surely if we did win the appeal, then Sainsburys would still be under contract to buy the land??? My understanding was sainsburys took us to court to claim the contract was null and void and had expired, so it is not compo we are after but for Sainsburys to honour the contract and pay the full amount. i think the BEP have got it wrong.

Agreed No compensation at stake just contract to be honoured or not Please no more talk of any other amount but £30m

The reality is now however that Rovers are fully aware of the grounds which Sainsburys are using to try and get out of the contract .

The fact they offered us anything speaks volumes. Why would you offer someone money if you have done nothing wrong ?

It's called buying off the litigation risk ie there's always a danger the Judgement will go against you, given they offered a tenth of what NH wanted it looks like they thought they had a 1 in 10 chance of losing. Meanwhile NH throws away £1.5m then loses the case you couldn't make it up!

Looks like Higgs is gambling with the future of the club.

I hesitate to post negatives without knowing the full SP but it seems that there is a conflict of interest between NHs desire for sh** or bust and BRFCs need to avoid bust at all costs. We can live without putting the club's long term future on the line for the sake of the moon shot. UWE may be the only game in town in NH agenda but not in mine. Apologies if this is unduly harsh on a man of whom I have little knowledge but the tension between the two agendas must be there somewhere.
