Why bother trialing him them? Seems like the lads been strung along from the outset to get him on peanut wages.

weird because if we gave him a 1 year deal everyone would be complaining about going back to signing injury prone players blah blah

They would moan if it was 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 1 year, 2 years or even 3 years. As BRFC supporters it's what we do.

weird because if we gave him a 1 year deal everyone would be complaining about going back to signing injury prone players blah blah A 1 year deal would have been fine. 3 months is weird. It's not often I feel sorry for players but where does that leave him in November if he does get injured or has 2 bad games in October? The other thread talking about Dawson......maybe there's more to things than money? Maybe players don't like getting messed about.

Money is tight and from what I have seen (and I have seen all his pre season appearances) 3 months is all he is worth. I will be very surprised if he is with us beyond those 12 weeks or so.

Not done a lot so far in the 2 games I have seen him. I will trust DC's judgement for now.
Still needs to sort his hair out though either way.

There's definitely more to the whole Dawson thing as there was no real reason to leave him out of the team entirely on his last match at Dover

IMO he either shines and we give him a deal or he isn't good enough and we go for somebody else. I feel that we have little money available and therefore can't get in a player of any note. Playing Lockyer at left back a week before the season starts with Browner looking very doubtful is not good at this stage of the season. Left back is where we should be getting a loan and we should be looking at a permanent winger. I am assuming now that Bodin is the "permanent signing". Kust hope that we are going to be good enough come next saturday.

Feels like the squad is actually a bit worse than the one we had towards the end of last season.

Good deal for us, can't understand some of the fans moaning! Can't judge a player properly in training or friendlies, this gives us a chance to look at him properly. Plus he will have to give it his all to try and earn a longer deal. For years fans have wanted players to fight for the shirt and when we try and make them, they moan about it! Only risk for us, is he finds form, plays some blinders and then leaves in 3 months for more money elsewhere. Better than signing him for a year and him not making it though.

Kust hope that we are going to be good enough come next saturday. I assumed Greenslade would be the back up left back but I guess not. TL is clearly no full back but if he had to do the job for the odd game he'd be solid enough. To have cover in every position means 22 FL quality players. DC himself has said he likes a small squad so I can't see a left back coming in.

The club have to do what's in their best interests, not the player's.
DC has seen Bodin up close for a month and whilst he liked some of what he saw, he hasn't felt the player has shown he is worthy of a year's deal. DC has a budget to adhere to and he doesn't want to use a significant chunk of it on a player who may not offer enough to the first team squad. Very smart management in my book and it is exactly the type of thing we were clamouring for under previous managers.
We offered him a short-term deal as that is all he is worth thus far, and Bodin had the option to take it or leave it. To be fair to the player, he has decided to take it (for whatever reason, not our problem that he didn't have any other offers) and must now back himself to play well and earn an extension in November. I hope he does, because he has shown something different to what we already have and has a very good work ethic, but this is a calculated move from the club and exactly how we need to be in the transfer market from now on.
Jumping in gung-ho and offering long contracts to the first players we see is a thing of the past thanks to DC, and that is obviously a good thing. I cannot believe that some people still want to moan.

Not good enough IMO, should have let him go and find a southern league club.
