Had a beer with a Sh*thead "friend" and he showed me a promotion video on his phone of the "NEW" Bristol Sport stadium and the bits they are opening today..... Made our "Mem" look like it is - a pile of out of date buildings not fit for purpose. Made me feel real sad that it's come to this Then i Got angry that our club is so poor & badly run Any floating support in Bristol is only ever going to go to one place and it ain't on Gloucester Road

The Mem is a pile of out of date buildings not fit for purpose.

Yeah. Did that only dawn on you this recently?! Dont worry about just the stadium. It's the community trust that kicks our arse. Over 10k STs etc. Never mind, some people love rag bag rovers....

I still do back the board because its the only one we got at the moment and if we did not have a BRFC loving BOD the mem would have been a housing estate long ago and you will be watching some part time team on the downs

All that money they're spunking on their revamped B&Q superstore, and it will still only have 2 corners.
Bit like the Mem

Give it a rest, or at least spend a few moments thinking it through.

I'm not so sure that all future support will go to the Franchise. Young football fans aren't so logical. Strange things attract them to choosing their team, including the bloody-mindedness of being different for the hell of it. Plus family loyalties and silly things like preferring blue to red, pirates to robins...
Not to mention the cost of taking a family. What will that cost at Franchise Towers when it's all done?
I'm not convinced they'll drive us to extinction. Man City spent years in the wilderness when United were successful, but still the Blue Moonies kept being born.

Think of Bristol Sport as the Empire, and Rovers as the Jedi.

They can spend all the money they want on their sh**ty franchise, they're gonna throw a sh** load of money down the drain gunning for their Prem dream only to fail at the final hurdle. Let them have their swanky stadium. We'll progress eventually and it'll be an even better feeling.

As much as I hate to say it the City are light years ahead of us. We have our work cut out to even attempt to emulate them sadly.

Well they might have opened a new stand open but still struggling to get players in and results haven't started well- they gloated we would have the best ground in the conference - déjà vue time ?

It is about the fans, the sense of belonging and the guys who put on the shirt. It is about history, local rivalries and caring what happens on that pitch. It is true that the bigger clubs and more swish stadiums can impress young kids and the kids in the playground will want to wear the shirt of the more famous club. We shouldn't give up the ghost however just because they have a better stadium - any neutral kid who came to Wembley or even travels to Yeovil this afternoon will want to be part of the Gas army. Fight on- our day will come - eventually !!

Like a lot of people when I am watching a game as a neutral I always support the side with the least resources or the underdog. Upsets can and do happen which is part of the appeal of the game. I think as football fans we have been brainwashed that it is all about how much money owners have and the stadium and whilst these factors help I think it is time for a underdog to do well. Lots of people remember our cup run a few years ago and it was our game the TV channels wanted. With DC in charge and his philosophy about honest players on a reasonable wage I think it is quite possible we could turn into a modern day successful underdog and win lots of admirers. I know people will say those days have gone but if that really was the case why do we continue to believe in our club and don't just support who is most likely to win the premier league each year? Lansdownes Bristol Sport propaganda mind control can pee off! We are gasheads and thats better than anything.

Love the retro programs, that must be a good idea, lets face it we look old fashioned, why not build the whole club around the idea ? If we fail with the new ground lets develop the Mem in the old fashioned way. UTG.
