We could have easily had 4 goals from set pieces in the last two games.

Reminds me of the best chant of the evening... Lines standing over the ball 25 yards out "He's one of our own ..." rings out. He puts it about 30 yards over the bar and a guy starts chanting ... "Send him on loan... Send him on Looooaaan! Chrissy Lines! Send him on Loan!" Quality. In seriousness, Lines has obviously not hit the heights of last year just yet, but his performances have been fine. Cheers mate & best wishes.

This obsession with Chris Lines is just weird!
Now been 10 odd years... Very strange to say the least.
Clearly a very good player, clearly a very good creative midfielder, clearly our best player for the last month of last season and clearly a very stupid thread.

To be fair Lines set pieces last season were very good so he can clearly take a good free kick and corner. He hasn't done so well in the last few games with them but there isn't a player in the world who hasn't had a few off games. 3 games in is too early to give up on him and he should stay in the side for now.

As someone said about Lines last season - 'All you can eat delivery' - the bloke hasn't been on form with set pieces so far, but he'll get there.

were without doubt shocking this evening. Brilliant team performance and thoroughly deserved three points. If we can find a creative midfielder we will have a good season Incredibly sad that you're obsession with the bloke continues even after a fantastic win. Even sadder is your insistence on commenting on something you haven't seen.
Yes it was a fantastic win and thoroughly deserved but it is no coincidence that Luton's best player was Paddy McCourt who made Lines looked decidedly ordinary

You're obsessed mate. It's plain and clear for all to see. Oh well done by the way, nice to see you make the odd game.

I bet I make more than you given I don't live in Bristol so keep fishing.
Only person obsessed is you and your inability not to comment on absolutely everything and contribute absolutely zilch. We are used to it and the fact you bite so quickly is testament to your inability to comprehend that most of us just laugh at you now.
I am entitled to my opinion on Lines and I will voice it for as long he continues to under perform in some peoples eyes. In my opinion he isn't under performing, he just isn't very good and never actually was.
Be interesting to see what happens when Mansell comes back. Lines has the ideal opportunity to shine now and that he is at a lower level. Do I expect him to grasp that with both hands...not really.

Well played McCourt then! It's better than their worst player making Lines look ordinary People used to moan about Lines' work rate and call him a 'luxury' player. His work rate has been much improved so that can no longer be realistically be levelled against him. Now you complain he is not creative enough! He is not the messiah, clearly. He is a league 2 footballer, but he is one of our better players and that you accuse others of having a myopic view is frankly, hilarious

Ellis gave away the ball on the edge of Luton's area and chased back 50 yards to put in a tackle.
Lines gave the ball away god knows how many times in the first half and let Clarke and Sinclair do the work to get it back. Lines is a luxury player and always will be

It is healthy to debate, we all understand that football is about opinions but we are only 3 league games in. I am shocked by the extreme views on Chris Lines, I dont think anybody can argue that he made a positive contribution last season equally nobody can really challenge that he had a very poor preseason (I was at every game). I think by his own standards he has been below par in our first 3 league games (I have been at every one) but I dont doubt he is trying. He really struggled in the first half last night but I thought he improved as the game went on and he made a positive contribution in the second half, excluding his freekicks, and I hope that kickstarts his season.
My one other thought is that as much as the current formation suits Sinclair and Clarke I dont thinks it suits Lines, he likes to drop pick up the ball and be a playmaker and with 3 in there its all a little crowded for Chris. The overload allows us to dominate but means Lines will need to adapt his game and that will take a little

Regardless of whether Lines has had a good start to the season what does the OP feel the club should do, everybody accepted, bar the OP, he helped us achieve promotion and deserve a bit of a gamble on us taking over the remainder of his PV contract all we can hope is that he comes good soon, given we never have much success at signing creative midfielders, in fact they've all been failures since Lines left!

I hope the club and DC in particular do not accept the nonsense from Lines and his entourage that he should be treated as the exemption because he is a local lad. This 'he's one of our own' is complete bollocks. He is back here with us because no other bugger wanted him or meet his wage demands.
Remember this. Lines was one the clique who downed tools when Penney came in. That in my mind is unforgiveable in any profession. All in support of Campbell. We then suffered four of the bleakest years in our footballing history. Buckle made lots of mistakes when he was here but getting rid of Lines was a fantastic piece of business when you consider the money he made in transfer fees for the likes of Carayol and Smith.
If Lines couldn't perform at Vanarama Level then he had no future in the game but his arrival WAS NOT the reason we got promoted. If Sinclair had stayed fit Lines probably wouldn't be at the club now. Lines had a contract to play for at the end of last season. He now has that contract, has been made Captain which I found staggering as he isn't a leader of men.
As I have said previously, I would never have had him back and I am still waiting to see this 'creative midfielder' we supposedly have. At what point in his career with us was he ever creative. His assist stats clearly back up my point as does his goals to games ratio.

We are three games in to the new season, we have won two of those away from home. Lines is an integral part of the team who will not give the best performance every week, just like every other player. But he has added value to the squad and first team. Can we stop arguing over the recruitment and selection? Thus is the best start for a couple of years, even at this stage, and last nights performance was the best I have seen for a few years. Lets judge individuals in January, if we must. In the meantime can we celebrate the fact that it looks like we have a team, please?
