were without doubt shocking this evening.
Brilliant team performance and thoroughly deserved three points.
If we can find a creative midfielder we will have a good season

create a thread to have a dig at chris lines jesus you sad human being Sad why? Did you think he played well or how many games do you give him before you check the rose tinted glasses. Worst player on our side of the pitch by a country mile. Cant find fault with any of the others but not many will be singing CL praises,

Joebananas67, You do seem to have something against Chris Lines and I would say almost to the hysterical similar to Tbones criticism of Matty Taylor. To be honest I felt he had a reasonable game tonight apart from his deliveries and definitely played his part as he did Saturday. As for last season I was never a real lines fan in his first period with us but he was definitely the difference last season between missing out and going up. I would rather praise the performances of Sinclair and Ollie Clarke who in the last two games have overshadowed Lines than down Lines performances.I do however believe that Chris Lines will star in many games this season. We dominated the midfield again tonight and that was down to all three players who were in there.

I agree with threads like this, the set pieces were poor on Saturday aswell so it's fair game to bring it up imo. If we had lost people would want to talk about it but because we won they don't? For the amount of corners and free kicks we have had in the last 2 games, our success rate had been abysmal. The team need to improve in this area definitely. Maybe not just the delivery but the movement and imagination needs to get better. Ellis came close with a free kick along the ground first half Saturday but the rest were bog standard.

Set pieces haven't been great but
a) Lines hasn't taken all of them so clearly not a staffing issue
b) it was obvious to me that we were going to struggle with set pieces this season when in the car on the way to the Northampton game one of the players was on Radio Briz (can't remember who - Ollie Clarke maybe?) saying that DC had forewarned them all that because they have this technology now where you can scout your opposition, set pieces would have to be continually mixed up so as not to give anyone an advantage over us.
As soon as I heard that I thought "Great so that's us not having a clue what we're doing at set pieces for the rest of the season then" and so far I've been proved right.
We're so preoccupied with "Not letting the opposition figure us out" that we've forgotten that the only way there is any point in doing that is if you have an effective alternative - which we don't.
We should just drill two or three set pieces and get them right - surely we're far more dangerous when we have a good free kick even if the other side do know what we're up to than if we just blindly blast the ball this way to "out-smart" the others.

To be fair we don't need to practice set-pieces in my view. We should just blind fold our 10 outfield players just for the set-piece and see what happens.

Every single Rovers player had a good games last night, Lines included.
As others have said, we dominated the midfield for long periods and that was down to the incredible effort of Sinclair, Clarke AND Lines.
It's true, he will be disappointed with some of his set piece deliveries and that is an area we can definitely improve, but his overall play was very good, he covered every blade of grass, had some decent forward runs and played his part in a great win for the Gas.

Where tbone has humour, joey b just has vitriol.
Did Linesy shag your missus or something?

Bore off Bananas, you can't spoil what was a great night for the Gas and their fans.

I wouldn't knock Lines myself... even if he has had a poor start (which I'm not claiming he has) then give him time, I'm confident he'll come great for us.
Btw, how long is Mansell out for?

Reminds me of the best chant of the evening...
Lines standing over the ball 25 yards out "He's one of our own ..." rings out.
He puts it about 30 yards over the bar and a guy starts chanting ...
"Send him on loan... Send him on Looooaaan! Chrissy Lines! Send him on Loan!"
Quality.
In seriousness, Lines has obviously not hit the heights of last year just yet, but his performances have been fine.
