Looks like Geoff Dunford isn't too impressed on Twitter:
@geoffdunford: We need someone on the board to advise and deal with football matters. I thought we had the necessary experience for the new stadium? #UTG

Last time we had a DoF we were relegated out of the FL. I'd like the board to stay away from DC to be honest.

The club has directors of public companies and major local companies who are season ticket holders and have the necessary qualifications Also just take a look at the advertising boards around the ground - amongst those are succesful business men who are also Rovers supporters and some have offered help and been refused by those who know better (BOD). Denis Dunford sought help and those who could helped him turn the fortunes around. Mr Sextone, although a nice bloke, comes with no money so why is he any better than loyal Rovers supporters? He has been brought in to help give us a scaled down stadium - and so we will always be the second class football club in this area. Because its not like the sheeds scaled down their plans... As for your question, CS has worked in this industry before, and is available full-time for the role. There's your answer.

I think he's having a double dig at Higgs for dabbling unsuccessfully in football matters and to date the unsuccessful stadium plans.

I dont think its a good move,as 1 he's a shithead, 2 he's a shithead,2 he's a shithead, cant abide the idea tha a ted would be anywhere near our club, to me it's worse than leting a frenchie on the board You seem to forget we have two good Sh1!heads at the club.. 1 Alan Walsh doing a great job with our under18s 2.Marcus Stewart DCs no2 Known Sheed fan Who played for both clubs.....but less not forget No10 player Clarke.....Who was playing probably his best football for us when we got relegated ....and there have been many others over the years.

Not only is it a dig at higgs, we do actually need someone on the board who knows how to run a football club. You only have to look at some of the threads on here about marketing for example, nobody at our beloved club knows how to do that side of it, is CS the man, only time will tell but we do need someone with a football club business brain.

In answer to Holmes, the man who brought NH into the boardroom was the guy who got us our own stadium for the first time in 50 years. He was brought in as he had money.
If you could forecast how he would then lead us to potential disaster, why didn't you tip us off? By the way if you know the Euro numbers for Saturday let me know and I'll buy us a stadium.

Interesting post from 'Plymborn' on not606.com
"Hope for your sake that he comes up to expectation....whilst at Argyle Sexstone became the invisible man.....what the hell was he there for?.....if it was to help with the Grandstand development things didn't even get off the ground.....maybe he and James Brent had different ideas on how to proceed."

Can any one remember a few months back on talk sport they said Bristol Rovers were one of the best clubs to take over because of the fan base and they had planning permission for a new stadium. now if there was some sugar daddy willing to come and take over this great club and get us out of the mess we find our selves in, when we were at Eastville we had to pay rent in the end we had to move to Bath where we spent 10 years out of Bristol.
So our Chairman wants us to have a quarter of the stadium and pay rent to play there have we learnt nothing in all these years, I have followed Rovers for 47 years and am getting really watered off playing second fiddle to that lot on the other side of the river, so NH plan is to build a smaller stadium bring in a sh** head to help in with is plans then God help us.

Plan A isn't possible. If Plan B is realistic and can actually happen I couldn't really care about the other lot to be honest. I've not seen another viable Plan B from anybody on here, only if it begins with 'let's get a sugar daddy' or 'with significant investment...' There is no evidence that people are lining up and willing to take over. Dream world.

I've not seen another viable Plan B from anybody on here, only if it begins with 'let's get a sugar daddy' or 'with significant investment...' There is no evidence that people are lining up and willing to take over. Dream world. Don't blow loads of money on sharp/opportunistic deals for getting a stadium on the cheap. The board f**k off and write off their debts. They failed to make money off the club or progress it in any way, so now they can pay for their failure. We work on getting the Mem up to standard gradually. We cut our cloth as befits a mid-range 6,000 att. L1/L2 club. Invest in the stadium, and the local community, youth team, decent youth scouting. No one gets rich, but no one flirts with bankruptcy, and we end up with a stadium to feel comfortable in, if not be proud of, and a club with its roots in the community, and a thriving youth/development program. You could say that that won't get us very far or isn't ambitious, but had we adopted this sort of approach ten years ago, say, then we'd be in a much, much better position today than we are.
