I'm in agreement with those posting defenders as their favourite players. I think it's part of the Rovers mentality that the quiet, unassuming defender who basically runs the majority of games he plays in is actually the best/most important and therefore favourite player amongst the fans. For me (from the current side) step forward Tom Lockyer (very close call with Lee Brown)....and from the all time Rovers players that I've seen it's Andy Tillson.

I don't think it helps that we haven't had a truly exciting striker in nearly 15years.
Some decent enough ones yes, but for me Hayles and Roberts were the last 2 strikers who properly got me excited.

Will Hoskins wasn't bad for a while, remember him scoring against Brighton after about a minute when they were top of the league.

They were awesome strikers for their goals alone, but also the way they would torment defenders almost for the sake of it before delivering the killer blow. With Hales it was as if there was a forcefield around him and the ball. Roberts was slightly more direct but just as lethal. There have been great strikers before and since, but for pure showmanship it has to be those two.

Manse and the Beard from today's team - 100% effort all the time. Going back for me it's Paul Randall and Gary Mabbutt but let's not forget the goalies - Big Jim Eadie was superb and Nigel Martyn didn't turn out too bad either.

Current squad - has to be the beard - plays with the same passion I would but 100% better ! All time could go for most of those mentioned plus smash and grab (from when I started watching the gas) but as a player who was literally on a different level to his team mates has to be vitalis astajevs, pure class in everything he did.

Current squad has to be Stu Sinclair, have great memories of Archie Stevens, Paul Randall, Mickey Barrett, John Scales, Nicky Tanner, Geraint Williams, Gary Penrice, Devon White, Andy Reece, Marcus Stewart, Andy Tilson' where do I stop?

Marcus Stewart for me, local lad and was an international classed striker in my eyes, cult hero at other clubs and exposed the sh1t for how pants they were.
Current squad, Tom Lockyer is a beast, already better than a lot of experienced pros we've had.

My favorite player currently is Sinclair and all time would probably be Jocky Alexander although it's hard to pick one.

From the current squad it's Lockyer because he's got so much time on the ball. All time is hard to choose but Marcus Stewart was genuine class. Although for pure excitement it could be Roberts or Hayles.

Current squad? Lee Brown. 200 games and not a bad one among them. Not one really bad one but not one amazing one either. He is Mr Consistently Half decent to me. 6 out of 10 most games.

I think Lockyer's our best so far this season but my favourite is Taylor as he is one of if not the most underrated footballer I have known at Rovers. Leadbitter and Sinclair I like too.

From the current bunch it has to be the Beard - but going way back my favourite really has to be Bobby Jones. Embodied the Eastville spirit totally.
