Just watching Salford deservedly leading against Notts County and it made me think of shocks. What Rovers games can you remember watching live where Rovers caused a shock and were on the wrong end of one. My favourite cup shock memory won by Rovers was the mid 70s win v Southampton at a very muddy Eastville - 2 nil to us and Randall chipped a peach. About 26,000 at the ground including shed loads of soon fans who tried to get on the pitch during the game. Also memorable for fans spilling on the pitch at full time with one Rovers fan charging on and grabbing a corner flag to have a go at the advancing Saints fans - those were the days !! As for losses luckily can't think of one which I've been to

After the last few years a win in any game feels like a shock!!
I genuinely cannot remember what it's like to play a League fixture thinking to myself this is a banker.
Same goes for cups.
The last 10 years have made me immune to hope.

FA Cup 3rd round tie at Eastville 1985/6. Rovers were in the 3rd division at the time and beat 1st division Leicester City 3-1. I was bouncing in the tote.

We got to the last 16 not so long ago.
I guess that has to be a shock.

Winning 3-1 at Derby in 2002 would be a great 'cupset' for me.

Just goes to show that we can't necessarily expect to cheer on an ex-Gas hero and then wallop them 7-0. Also shows the magic of the FA Cup could still be there if the powers that be hadn't tossed it aside as a distraction from the Premier League.

2-0 to Salford. Comedy gold! Notts co were absolute garbage tonight. No fighting spirit what so ever. If i was a county fan i would happily let Stead & Mcleod go on free transfers. How they managed to beat pompey last week god knows, they will be lucky to finish half way imo.

Derby for me, great day out, they started singing 'Are you Forest in Disguise' to us, but when we were winning we sang it back to them & I think they even applauded that!

Notts County were dreadful. The only 'shot' they had was the rebound. This is what will happen to any league team if they don't start at a high tempo mind you County were slow motion all evening.

Lots of good players on paper but with no real desire or fight.

Derby and Fulham were both great shock wins for us but my favourite was the win over Everton on penalties. The performance over both games was phenomenal and Dwayne Plummer netting that final penalty in the soaking rain was as good as it gets. Let's hope Chesham don't get it as easy as Salford did tonight...

I saw us lose to Kettering 2-1 up there a few years ago. I was also at VS Rugby when we went 1-0 down. Only about 10 minutes to play I think. We scored not long after they did and won the repay easily. I was at PNE for the FA cup tie. We hadn't won all season. Went 4-0 up at half time. watered down with rain and we thought the game would be called off. Hung on for a 4-3 win. No wonder I've got high blood pressure.

Notts Cty just weren't up for it. Perhaps that is down to the foreign manager - just not really having the passion for the competition and that then gets transmitted to the players - even if only subconsciously. I can't see our management team making the same mistake.
