Darrell Clarke is a top guy who really feels the pain like us Gasheads We are fortunate to have him Losing to Bath City last year he rallied the troops and I fully expect him to do the same UTG

Fully agree.
The people even beginning to question whether DC should remain here should remember what it was like in League Two under Buckle, McGhee, Ward etc. And they all had a lot more money to spend than DC has at the moment.
We are 3 points off the play offs with a game in hand. Yes we lost today to a minnow in the cup, but one-off freak results happen, and unfortunately we were the ones on the receiving end of one today.
It happens - move on.

I'd take the team we had towards the end of last season over the one we have now. We haven't replaced Dawson or Monkhouse, and Lines just doesn't look arsed now he's not playing for a contract. We've tried three goalkeepers yet none have looked like an upgrade on Puddy who wasn't good enough for League 2 in the first place. Ollie Clarke wasn't good enough us when we were a top Conference team, yet he's played loads this season. The only area we've improved in is CB, and that was by signing James Clarke (yet another Conference player) on a free. The rest of the team has either remained as good as it was in non-League (strikers, full backs, and central midfielders), or got worse (Goalkeeper, wingers).
The brutal truth is that we're playing a Conference team in League 2, and DC has done brilliantly to have us well away from the relegation zone which is where a squad like this belongs.

I thought Hugo said it doesn't just "happen". I suppose when most of the forum posters now seem to be Mods then the occasional disagreement might sneak in.

Darrell Clarke has done a brilliant job on limited resources We didn't get knocked out of the cup because of bad team management

Still cant understand the winger situation. We lost dawson who was inconsistent but was always dirext and replaced him with some skinny unproven midget who doesnt know if hes a striker or a winger.
We let monkhouse go who wasnt an out and out winger but scored and assisted lots and replaces him with a short, inconsistent, unproven player who misses games due to international call ups.
The squad is weaker than last year imo.

Today was a cup game and yes it was really upsetting to loose but it happens If we win the next 2 league games he will be our hero Just a few games ago people were raving about Billy Bodin This team is really young but you can't fault them for effort

I would agree with you but I said the Newport game was a one off. We can't keep saying this about home games, it has got to the stage now where you have to assess it and say it has become a problem. We are only going to find it harder to win at home after today.

We are only going to find it harder to win at home after today. I can see what you're saying, but they're two very different games. Newport was a one off in the sense that we won't give every team we play this season three goals on a plate like we did that day. We pretty much beat ourselves. Today was just a freak cup result, and the sort of upset that happens season after season in the FA cup. It's just not nice when it's you on the end of it!

Darrell Clarke has done a brilliant job on limited resources Completely agree We didn't get knocked out of the cup because of bad team management Completely disagree. Whilst I don't actually blame DC for this one result, we lost today for the same reason we've only got 4 points and 5 goals at home in the league this season. Can't score for technical, tactical or personnel reasons...and whilst he may be constrained by budget, that's three areas he has to sort out and soon. If it's not the managers job, who's job is it?

The point Iam trying to make for those that can get to away games you see the same team but completely different results Even when we go a goal down in away games we seem to have the resolve to get a result It seems for a while now our luck has deserted us at home The players are making mistakes which get punished the crowd goes quiet and we just can not seem to get the ball in the net But one thing you can not blame them for is effort we had 25 shots and 17 corners ! It's time to stick together and ride this storm We are Gasheads rise up and be counted UTG
