I think DC has raised our expectations more than he should have. Whilst most of us would have accepted mid table at the beginning of the season, DC says "top 7" . Expectations are fine but to meet them then we really need more players with league experience. Or players that are better than we have. At first I thought Easter would be that, but he's not outstanding compared to most of the others. Maybe it's the way we play him. Yes I is a shame about Gaffney but I certainly hope that DC has someone else in mind, we don't need a repeat of the Constable saga.
Meanwhile for the life of me I don't understand why we don't let some of the others go. Why do we keep hold of Gosling, when Montanna is a lot better? Is DC too kind to some of his players, or is it no one else wants them.
Truth is we definitely have some tough games coming up, and we need more bite up front

I don't think top 7 expectation is unrealistic seeing as we are 6th now, but you are right we do need to more in attack if we are going to get out of this league.

Happy to be in and around the top seven - keep the season going for as long as possible. That will be an achievement!
Bristol Rovers Football Club will be exceeding my expectations when they are in the top six of League 1.

My expectation is not based on DC saying we want to be top seven, rather on watching us play and the teams in and around the playoffs who we are as good as, and better than some. It may not be this year, but up to now we are giving it a good go,look at how we have improved compared to Barnet even taking in the defeat yesterday

Yeah I said top half maybe play offs at the beginning of the season and I still think we can achieve that and maybe top 3 even if we can sign Gafney or similar. There still a long way to go , maybe 60 points to play for so the top 3 is still possible and whilst we're not going down a bottom half finish is possible too. We're half way through a marathon and a lot can go right or wrong between now and the finish line.

At the start of the season my hope was playoffs.... Not necessarily winning them. My expectations were to have a good go at getting in playoffs. Think we have collectively got ahead of ourselves as we can sniff top 3. So for me we are on track for delivering to my expectations. I figure even if we lose a few over the next few weeks and drop down the table a bit we will still be achieving / on track in line with my expectations. Go DC. UTG

Anyway as regards the rest of your post, we really do have some moaners don't we! Let's bring Buckle back shall we! He certainly knows how to lower expectations! There is nothing wrong in my eyes with having a realistic ambition and target, it gives the team something to aim for and pushes them to improve to reach that target otherwise as DC said "they will be out of the door".

To be fair it would hardly be inspiring for DC to say, 'Okay lads 3rd from bottom will be fine this year.' And even a mid table finish is not really an inspiring target.

It makes such a change from the last God knows how many managers who had no belief and no connection with the supporters. The thing with DC is that he is not scared to back himself and I am just glad after watching season after season pass us by to at last have expectations.

That's the end of it then. Afterall Lee Brown also said the he enjoyed playing with Monkhouse...and that got added to the Bayeux Tapestry didn't it! Gosling therefore is the most naturally gifted footballer that we have.

You need to move on mate. You are taking your fixation with our Monkhouse fixation too seriously. Come to think of it (and I do) I think you secretly miss Monkey more than most. If you ever need anything....
