The problem is SC was going for players that were never going to join City regardless of how much they offered.

Does any clubs gate receipts cover their costs? Total income, yes but not sure about gate income alone. We have a great head start on most clubs at our level, or we should have.

Higgs received around £17m pre tax when he sold his shares to Balfour Beatty so unless he has invested very wisely I would think that he has a lot less available after his disaterous tenure of BRFC. I assume NH was already wealthy when he sold Cowlings given his age at that time as he was thier Chairman and no doubt he would have received investment advice when he sold up, also any "investments" in Rovers could probably be offset against is overall tax bill, if so, I doubt he's now stuggling to make ends meet!! Who said he was struggling?

I dont get the sudden Higgs love in. We have a small budget and have had big crowds. We should be due to run an operating profit this year based on the igures Watola talked about 18 months ago. Its not like he is spending hos own money its ours. DC has a great strategy of saving some of his budget for January and it worked a treat last year. Do our gate receipts really cover the running costs? Tony Watola said that our relegation season we needed to average 9000 to break even. Our budget is now 60% lower and we average over 6500 which is 25% under. Makes sense that we should make a profit as we are not making payments on our loan

The Board at both clubs have given their managers a decent budget for the positions they are in. DC has been sensible with his, his recent comment about having no money was a poker move to try to force Cambridge into showing their hand. Agent SC was going for players unlikely to want to come to city, instead of signing players that might of helped him in his cause. Ego is his biggest problem. Friend of mine knows the city chairman's son and knew yesterday afternoon he was a goner as the chairman was heading to trashton to give him the bullet. We dont, our budget is tiny. We have run our commercial side so badly we should be able to support a much higher budget 25-50% higher with our fan base.

Makes sense that we should make a profit as we are not making payments on our loan I don't think the Wonga loan interest will just disappear from our annual accounts just because it isn't being repaid? Plus there's interest on the existing loans/debts generally not to mention transfer fees and bonuses paid out last season and also for Gaffney this season. As far as poor marketing I doubt selling a free extra shirts will bring in £100k's to make the difference between a loss making & a profitable club. Although it'll be interesting to see last season's accounts when they are published shortly.

Do you believe there are any failings or mistakes that have been made by him during his time at the helm? If there is room for improvement in the way we are currently run how should posters raise that without being accused of bashing NH?

No I don't, but I could see where this threw was going from post number 1.

You know every cost for BRFC ? TW gave the crowd break even figures needed to cover costs. DC and NH told us the cut in budget. I don't suppose anyone knows the full ins and outs but it's not unreasonable to take the figures the club themselves have given and work a rough thumbnail amount in the way it was done?
