Terrible. Terrible goal. Mildy really should have saved that.

Terrible. Terrible goal. Mildy really should have saved that. I dunno. It's amazing how many times that sort of cross goes in. The last thing on the keeper's mind is that it won't be touched. Anyway, what I take away most from those highlights is 'don't try to swing on the crossbar if you're wearing woolly gloves.'

Terrible. Terrible goal. Mildy really should have saved that. You are joking aren't you? Mildenhall couldn't dive earlier as someone could have got a touch to the ball. These sort of goals happen frequently at all levels and they fool the best keepers in the world. Mildenhall also made some excellent saves and looked to have had a decent game. I wasn't at the game so only saw the highlights but based on that we were second best and Mildenhall was in no way to blame.

He just really should have done better with that.

What shocking goal to concede after all those decent saves, surely Parkes, or is it Lockyer?, should have made some attempt to meet the cross rather than just leave it in the hope Mildenhall would pull off a worldy?

Looked like he should have saved it, he has time to react and get across to it.

Ball watching by Parkes and Lockyer, no attempt to deal with the cross and too late for Mildy to deal with it in my opinion. Wish we put in more crosses like that, seen Premier keepers beaten by crosses like that fired into the "area of indecision".

Should have saved that, but more worryingly it looked like we didn't turn up! What happened?! Onwards

If he'd dived early he'd have looked an idiot if a central defender had dealt with it/got a touch or a striker had got a touch, once he didn't dive early I doubt any goalie would have got near it.

Have to agree with that. As the ball comes in, unless you have called for it,you have to assume the central defenders are going to deal with it and you can't anticipate the flight of the ball in case of an unexpected deflection. Once Parkes decides to leave it Mildenhall has no chance.

Didn't need to dive early, it wasn't going that fast. Balls come in like that every game, it's when there is a lot of pace on it the keepers normally get beaten.

3 reasons I'm not surprised we lost today. 1. Were playing our bogey team. 2. Changed from our recent successful formation. 3. The team DC picked.
On to Wimbledon and hopefully Leadbitter and lines will be back in with the 3-5-2.

Stanley were really not that good. They didn't need to be. We were bloody awful, and I'm sorry to say it, but all this constant changing of the team does not help in my opinion.
By half time it was obvious that Taylor seems to have no interest in what he is there for. Wonder if he already has an agreement to go elsewhere in the summer. Lawrence didn't seem to know what his role was, and looked like a fish out of water. Bodin is completely wasted on the wing, and should either be put inside in place of Taylor or used as an impact sub. Gaffney did a hell of a lot of running as usual, but had a poor game, so I looked forward to rapid changes at the interval, because we only had to improve by 10% to turn them over.
So, what do we get? The same side reappears for the second half, and if anything we just got worse, whilst Stanley started to dominate the game. Mind you, they didn't look like scoring either. And all the while, we on the terraces just got closer and closer to hypothermia, as we had nothing to get excited about.
Then came the changes. Montano came on while I was hoping for Leadbitter to test out the Stanley defence with pace which we were crying out for. Easter came on, but Gaffney was taken off, so we still didn't get to see them together, and on came Rory Mk 11. Straight away I felt the game was gone. Taylor was still on and still just as hopeless. And so it proved.
We sank closer and closer to requiring treatment for frost bite, and as the game ended and we trudged wearily away, yet another blast of snow struck the faithful.
Sorry DC, much as we love what you have achieved, you must stop the constant tinkering. It is not going to get us where we want to be.
