I think he was saying it had been difficult to get on with his job preparing everyone for the match. Players and staff were distracted. Not surprising. I did however get the impression, even in this very early phase, that he is already comfortable criticising the outgoing regime. His pointed comment about the infrastructure not being what it should be is clearly something he has been struggling with. I agree the next week or so, getting some reassurances and getting everyone back to focussing on their jobs, is his main priority.

I took it as him being cheesed off with NH and co for keeping it under wraps to be honest. I'm sure he would have liked to meet the new owner/chairman for reassurances/planning, but I think that will be done next week going by what Al-Qadi was saying. Thought DC said they spent half hour chatting? Or maybe that was Wael on Twentyman... Nice game of golf together next week will hopefully settle Darrel's nerves. Assuming either of them play, if not a walk along Severn beach? Sorry just watched back and he did say that. Wael did mention there'd be more discussions at some point this week though if I recall.

New ownership has changed the dynamic completely with regards to DC. A love in with a new owner ups the pressure, we have no bad guy to blame currently and what funds DC is given will come with more expectation. From previously working on a ( relatively ) small budget he had designs on getting us to league 1 playoffs, many will now be ( rightly or wrongly ) expecting more. Hugely different than what he signed up for. My hope is a good working relationship to ease any fears and that DC gets to stay in charge wherever we're heading. Bang on. Before Friday, expectations were mid table div 2 this season. Alright we hoped, nobody really believed 2 promotions back to back was doable. Now he has a boss who is expecting league 1 or championship. I hope DC is up for the challenge but bet he needs to swallow hard a few times I don't see that at all. Wael has been extremely grounded in his interviews to date. He refused to give a five or ten year plan, he also said he knew it was a long term project and he was most focused on getting things right off the field first. He knew about Darrell's tactics variations in games and he seemed perfectly happy with what he's done to get us out of the conference. For me, Wael couldn't have been more accommodating of the current setup - most rich new owners would have come in shouting the odds saying we're off to the champions league in 5 years time. As far as I can see Wael has indicated he'd rather not be watching league 2 football but I don't remember him using the words league 1, championship or premiership at all? (I stand to be corrected though of course!) It's all words at the moment of course but all I see is a rich family man who understands football, understands the club and wants to build a sustainable business for him, his family and us to enjoy. I bloody hope it works out like that anyway! I think DC is a little defensive because it's very difficult to manage the players and staff on such short notice of the changes when the more fringe players are probably all of a sudden a little concerned for their jobs. He is protective of his playing staff and I think that's totally understandable and laudable - he admitted that it was just part and parcel of football in the interview. I really love the way he goes about it to be honest. But I didn't see him looking worried about his own position - lets face it he'd walk into another job so easily right now if we made the bonkers decision to get rid of him. Unless there is some kind of personality clash I can't see DC going anywhere. If anything I feel like we could now keep DC longer as he's less likely to be poached by other clubs as we have the resources to allow him to achieve his goals at this club. Ditto Lockyer and a few of our other good players.

Love DC especially his honesty but I do feel he can jump the gun somewhat, I.e saying Mildenhall won't be no1 again... really hope he can get some time with Wael so they can discuss contract ext's plus what we need to make the playoffs.

I think that, as with all successful people, DC is a control freak.
Under the old regime he was top dog and pretty untouchable. All of a sudden all his certainty has been swept away and for the momenthe is just another employee.
That won't sit well and he was clearly miffed in his after match interview. I think the old board did a brilliant job of keeping the lid on things. There were a load of rumours swirling around on the four,s and towards the end I had discounted it all as rubbish and was considering not bothering with these chat roo,s any, ore.
I believe the deal wasn't signed until well past 11pm on the Thurdsay, that is obviously how both parties wanted it, and I think DC has to be big enough to accept that. How does he not know, for example, that one of the stipulations of the sale was that the team management had to be left unchanged for a certain time to allow them to settle in under the new regime. After all, I can't see Higgs and the other departing board members saying anything other than how they had a gem of a young and upcoming manager and that they should do everything in their power to keep him?

With nearly half of his team out of contract in the summer it don't surprise me this has miffed him.
Agents must of slammed the breaks on any deal they had in place with the club and chucked another grand on a week the minute they heard a billionaire was on the scene.
DC has put together a team of grafters and he could see this whipped out by greed.

Noticed he had a nice haircut! Being serious, Wael seems to have his head screwed on so can't see any wild changes or money being thrown at the club. More like quietly working on what's already there & improving on it. Well - hopefully.

The thing is, a player can only be worth so much, and there must be a figure over which no league 1 or 2 team would go. If I were conducting negotiations with agents I would invite them to go elsewhere if they can get the sort of money they're demanding. Offer a sensible basic and build in incentives for success, keep em keen and hungry.

If they have done their homework, they will realise what a great job DC has done and is doing

Today's Post is reporting that DC met the new owners for half an hour (presumably on Saturday) and that he is excited and has no worries about losing his job or having any interference.

He did seem pretty frustrated in the post match interview but hopefully as the days go on he will talk to them more and feel more comfortable. Wasn't the best time to announce it but these things have to be kept in the dark for obvious reasons.

I wondered whether DC was putting a shot across the bows saying "leave me to manage". If in the the 30 minute meeting the phrase "Director of Football" was used or Wael suggested he would like to be involved in day-to-day managerial stuff then I am sure DC would be mightily watered off.
That said, my spies tell me they were getting along very well at the Valentine's ball.

I can equally believe that it was said genuinely.

Not sure if anyone else has come across this article I've come across, but a couple parts are quite interesting but probably won't improve DC's mood: “...We are going to do some reshuffling … We are going to equip the club with the right people and restructure the club properly so that it functions better.”AND "...part of his plans was to provide Jordanian and even Arab players with a chance to develop their football skills. “This is very positive for Jordan because this vehicle can be used for Jordanian boys to improve and become professional players as well.”"Linkage - www.venturemagazine.me/2016/02/al-qadi-family-buys-bristol-rovers-soccer-club/

By 'reshuffling' I'm sure he means allocating directors to certain roles, improving commerical and financial side etc. - Don't think his comments refer to DC and co. The second quote is interesting. If they're good enough, why not? I can't see a huge influx of Jordanians in the near future though.
