ok, it's a legal battle and all parties must stay silent....
Sainsbury cant go public on the topic....
rovers cant go public on the topic....
then it must be assumed that the independent are making this up....
i'd like to know where they got their information from

Have no idea how you can blame the board for 'covering it up'. Infact they said pretty much all of this at the Fans forum meeting. They didn't state as fact that 'sainsburys wanted out' but they couldn't. Use common sense they cannot communicate everything, especially this. What we need now is a good response to this rumour/news on the OS to calm the fan base down, I imagine it'll be tomorrow. Fanboy thats bullshit, the board were asked what would happen if sainsburys pulled out they didnt hint at any problems at all. The board stated time and time again that 'the contract was water tight'. They were dropping huge hints about this and I for one am not surprised in the slightest by this article. The board would be bullshitting if this contract turns out not to be sound. They never once specifically said that Sainsburys were behind this, they always changed the answer to 'they cannot pull out'.

Precisely. An indication of why they published this story now. That said, however tight the non-disclosure agreement between the parties, we need some sort of official comment from the club and soon.

Hopefully someone will post it just to stop this rag profiting from scare mongering. If nothing else they have borrowed the content so not than unreasonable for someone to repost it - after all they had no concerns about where they got their information from to start with.

that was a waste of a quid.... just read ftb's bullet points and that's all you really need to know....
although the 'they (Sainsbury)' and the 'we (Bristol rovers), and the fact that 'a club source said'
lets us know what side this has been leaked from, and I mean 'leaked' as their is nothing official about it whatsoever....

To be fair dins this is new markets opinion on what the independent have written, not what the board have said, they haven't made a statement yet and probably never will

You pays your money (or not) and makes your choice of course.Kosher, bollox or something inbetween maybe but if it's a ruse to sell a few more papers it worked.I prefer gregsgas interpretation btw.

Whether it's true or not, this is Rovers so it will never happen.

The board have to at least respond to the article and if it has actually been leaked they need to fix it.

Splendid, to be honest I would be bl**dy mad at having to mess up my Sunday lunch just to calm some crazy football supporters, well done Mr Higgs, looks like the BOD are listening. UTG.

I know this doesn't seem to be their fault, but delivering UWE is the one and only thing keeping most fans on side with the BoD atm. If it falls through I think it'll hit the fan. Delivering the UWE probably contributed considerably to our league status being lost?

Delivering the UWE probably contributed considerably to our league status being lost? Not scoring enough goals sent us down. Separate issue nothing to do with the stadium

Really do not understand why people keep saying the BOD have to go if the UWE falls through ... We know neither Rovers or Sainsburys can say anything at the moment .. We believe that Sainsburys are trying to renegotiate the price due to the economic downturn and corporate strategy to get out of the agreed deal and not Rovers... We are told its in the hands of the lawyers at the moment and Higgs insist they have a water tight deal.., my understanding of that statement means Rovers will get money out of this regardless even if Sainsburys get out of buying the ground. Therefore common sense tell me we should all hate Sainsburys for welshing on the deal not blame the board who might have been lead up the garden path by believing Sainsburys were the best people to sell the Mem to. Sack the board? Really ... Could be they have been let down as much as we have
