Very worrying "exclusive" piece by Graham Rusell in today's local Sunday paper, gist is;
• Sainsburys want to pull the plug as they no longer see it commercially viable. • Rovers are prepared to take Sainsburys to court and believe they have water tight contract. • Lawyers on both sides already involved and there has been two legal skirmishes so far that have gone unreported.
So that explains the recent MP's intervention, the clubs lack of communication to us. and confirms our worst fears are well founded

No shock on this end, could always see this coming.
Let the battle between Rovers and Sainsburys commence. Higgs better be 100% sure the contract is watertight or Sainsburys WILL find a way out of this. They've got the resources, lawyers and experience

It's a balls up if the contract isn't waterproof. If it's waterproof, then this will be a delay but we will get our money. We'll soon see if Higgs is right.

I know this doesn't seem to be their fault, but delivering UWE is the one and only thing keeping most fans on side with the BoD atm. If it falls through I think it'll hit the fan.

If Sainsbury's play a part in killing Bristol Rovers they'll be finished in Bristol.

Blame the Greens for this, this should have been done and dusted but the greens held it up. How people still vote for that shower is a mystery!

Yet another lengthy legal battle on our hands then. How I long for a time when we can just focus on the football...

One thing that does irritate me, not that I think this is the BOD's fault (unless the contract isn't watertight), is that we always have to hear this stuff second hand. The communication seems to have got a little bit better but it's always the big things that are hush hush. I know there is confidentiality clauses and the like, but it always seems like they'll say nothing is wrong even when evidence stands to the contrary.

This is not a cover up, this is a legal battle, some people need to grow up and get in the real world, you can't just chat about such legal matters. I despair with some posters. LEGAL means a few secrets have to be kept, I bet Sainsbury have not told the masses that shop with them about this !

Why did the board cover this up ? Have no idea how you can blame the board for 'covering it up'. Infact they said pretty much all of this at the Fans forum meeting. They didn't state as fact that 'sainsburys wanted out' but they couldn't. Use common sense they cannot communicate everything, especially this. What we need now is a good response to this rumour/news on the OS to calm the fan base down, I imagine it'll be tomorrow.

They dont have to give us every bit of info but they need to be truthfull. If Sainsburies are trying to pull out why could the club not say that? At the q and a they said everything is fine and thy were waiting for some pre planning stuff to go through. I hope for their sake that this is still the case.
Newmarket, i appreciate you try and be positive and see the best in things but if this is true and the board have been lieing then its indefensible

Fanboy thats bullshit, the board were asked what would happen if sainsburys pulled out they didnt hint at any problems at all.
