Didn't Brightons average attendance go from around 3,000 to 20,000 when they moved to their new ground? Might be worth us looking at their set up.

And so my point still stands, because the classic quote "If you build it, they will come" just doesn't ring true unless there are other changes....first of all, even when it's built and standing there (at either 21k or 26k), how is it filled? I can't for one minute imagine we will simply move the current 7500(ish) fanbase over. We will lose some and add some more....but how do we do that...? Slick marketing and the 'experience'? That'll add some fans and lose some others. Trouble is it will lose some of those who have (basically) kept us in existence and it risks losing some that currently make Bristol Rovers what it is... ...it's a fine line to tread and so far they're doing it right. I just hope they're not worried about how many seats they think we might need... Who on earth from our current fan base will not want to go and sit in a "world class" shiny new stadium that we have craved for years???

The only way we'll lose fans is if we put the prices up but surely that's unlikely if the new owners want to fill the UWE? We could possibly lose fans who don't like sitting but how likely is that going to be?

Brighton pop 155000 Brizzle pop. 430000. Even with 2 clubs its more than twice the pop. I think we should build "big" but do figures above include Worthing, Hove, Shoreham etc? It doesn't look like it. All these other towns are individual towns that make up a sizeable conurbation with no other rival teams, football or rugby. Bristol has divided rivalries, Brighton like Leeds is a one team city. Whatever the figures, and I don't know them, we would have to work very hard to fill a 25,000 stadium and make it a very good match-day experience. Being positive we should be able to do that and these new owners are not going to go half heartedly into it. If they build a new stadium I am sure they will do their best to fill it, whatever the size. UTG!

Average attendance in league 1 2008 5,937 Rovers in same league and year 6.850 Brighton in Championship in 2015 25,645 Agree with this and think you are probably correct. But am not too sure that Brighton is the best comparison. Brighton is a one club town with little opposition and only Crawley(!!), Pompey 50 miles to the west and Gillingham 70 miles to the east. Bristol with Rovers and City in direct opposition and Bristol Rugby is a different proposition. But I hope you're right. UTG![/quote] I wonder are the 82er's in direct competition or do we both attract fans from different sets of fans? Are you always a Gashead/Poohead regardless of whether you only turn up for big games Inc Wembley, or do fans float between both clubs? As far as ground capacity I wonder if there's a capacity the UWE don't want the club to exceed, on the basis they want the staduim to be part of the UWE and not totally dominating the Uni site?

Sure, but Bristol has easily over a million people when you include the South Gloucs bits and go out as far as say Yate and Nailsea.

I don't know that the two club city thing makes a difference looking at say Mancheter, Sheffield, Brum. WBA and wolves.all have attracted good crowds we would have no trouble filling a stadium if we had the success you just have to look at the wembley attendances the appetite is here.

Not sure you can compare us with Birmingham but I guess you could add Liverpool to the list as they have no trouble supporting two clubs in a similar sized metropolis.
