I see reports that upto 16 PL U21s teams could be entered into the JPT from next season.
Dangerous move as could open the door for them to be entered into the Football League as well?
Would you be willing to pay £10 to watch the Gas v Man City U21s?

That would be a disastrous thing to do. Let's hope it doesn't happen.

If the case I hope we play a weakened team to get knocked out first round.
Slowly killing football and the sooner the big clubs join a world elite league the better.

Would also mean the end of the final being played at Wembley surely?
What would be the point if it was Arsenal U21s v Chelsea U21s in front of 4000 people.
Even if a proper club played an U21 team in the final the whole thing would be devalued and basically a farce

Plenty of U21 competitions. As others have said, play the youths. If everyone does the same and gets knocked out early it would soon die as a competition.

If this happens then RIP proper football, the FA should be protecting lower league clubs! The Football League is a English heritage, don't f*ck with it anymore!

If the problem that they PL teams are trying to solve by this is lack of exposure for young English players, then bring in a mandatory 4 English qualified players per team rule surely?

Rubbish trophy anyw, unless you get to the final. Would they play at the first teams stadium? Could be a good day out then.

It's basically a get out of jail free card for the Prem teams as they never bring youth through and would rather splash cash on some obscure foreign players instead. Why should the lower leagues have to suffer?

If it was a competitive game and a good price I reckon there would be more home fans than that, loads pay just to do a tour without a game.

But from a Rovers point of view would many honestly pay say £200 including travel etc to watch a game away to a load of unknowns?

JPT is an awful competition as it is until the area finals, possibly seeing Man C U21's is more attractive to some, young, football fans than a weakened Rovers team v a weakened Wycombe team? How about the Premiership boosting winnings for each round by a few £100K's to make it really attractive for FL clubs?? Edit www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/31702424It seems FL Chairman agree with my views?

The tournament is officially called the 'Football League Trophy' (with various sponsors over the years such as JP) so should not be open to Premiership or Championship clubs. To propose a tournament where some teams have Under-21 restrictions and others do not makes a farce of the whole thing. However I am not surprised the greedy Premiership clubs and subservient FA are considering it.

Why doesn't the Prem just f*ck off? It's the Football League Trophy for goodness sake. It's sh*t but it's all we've got. Go and start your own competition if you're that desperate, I'm sure Dulux would be happy to sponsor it.

FL clubs should boycott it if this happens, most of the JPT's appeal is the Wembley final - which would be lost if the JPT was opened up like this.
U21 teams would get beaten very easily too, very different set of qualities needed in competitive senior games to friendlies as we saw this summer against Arsenal's yoof.

I thought this was rejected last season by the football league? This was one of Greg Dyke's crackpot ideas. As far as I'm concerned the Premier League can go shaft themselves, they have already ruined the national team so leave us alone.

All about money, not football, and finding ways to draw more of it to the top flight. As if that was needed! Enjoyed our day at wembley and millennium for this but never really saw point of it and that becomes even harder to see if top clubs can buy a ticket. Fight it I say
