Easter Weekend looks very, very tough. Whilst we are in good form, it is only a matter of time until we slip up. Both Cambridge and Carlisle NEED to win to keep up with a chance of the top 7. Lockyer will be a massive miss, player of the season by a mile. Also, even though McBurnie and Ellis would have been unlikely to start, both are ideal to bring on as subs against tired defences. Who have we got to bring on instead? Easter/Fallon?
A win on Friday and a draw at Carlisle wouldn't be the end of the world for me even if it means dropping out of the top 3. I just hope we will be ready if we do slip up as there is likely to be more twists and turns with 9 games still to go.
Oxford Friday 25th Stevenage (H) Monday 28th Cambridge (A)
Plymouth Friday 25th Morecambe (A) Monday 28th York (H)
Accrington Friday 25th Leyton Orient (H) Monday 28th Newport (A)
Portsmouth Friday 25th Notts County (H) Monday 28th Wimbledon (A)

Why will be dropping out of the top 3 if we collect 4 pts, Plymouth can't buy a win at the moment so they'll do well to even avoid defeat at Morecambe, likewise Accy will do well to beat Orient & Pompey to win at the Dons.
As Parkes was last season's Player of the Year we just need him to put in a decent shift over Easter, given the choice I'd have Gaffney back for Harrison & McBurnie, plus we have Montano finally showing some form.
Regardless promotion won't be won or lost just over Easter.

And no it won't, that's kind of my point if we were to slip back out the top 3 but it's important we keep collecting these points.

The loss of Lockyer is obviously not great but last season when we lost a player through injury or suspension whoever came in as cover always seemed to slot in ok.

Don't underestimate Cambridge....they have picked up 17 pts in their last 10 games ,just 2 less than BRFC. Whereas Carlisle have picked up just 11 pts.

Yep not 2 easy games by any stretch and to be honest can see the following:-
2 - Oxford - 4 points = 75 3 - Plymouth 6 points = 71 4 - Rovers - 4 points = 69 5 - Accrington - 4 points = 68 6 - Portsmouth - 4 points = 64
We need to beat or at least match Oxfords and Plymouths return if we can. The need to open a gap between 3rd and the 4th position is vital to keep the pressure on the chasing sides

I'd love Easter to toughen up a bit...and or look like he's trying a bit more....

I have complete faith in this set of players and our manager. The pressure last season was incredible and the players coped just fine, other than the slip-up against Dover. I see no reason why we cannot go up in 3rd or 2nd. What I know for sure is that every team in the top 10 will drop points between now and May.

Pretty confident in our ability to score is unchanged, slight worry our solid defence may suffer without Lockyer, but on balance I am not too worried. As we saw yesterday, we always risk conceding silly goals even with Locks. And there is still a long way to go so 2 games isn't going to decide it. Chill!

It will be very hard for ALL sides whether they have seemingly easy sides or hard matches. The big secret over Easter is to win your first game and then see where you are.If we go to Carlisle having won on Friday then if we slip up Monday its not the end of the world. 4 points from these two games would IMO be a good return and might see us retain 3rd spot. Personally I would be looking for a minimum of one signing before Friday and ideally two.

I think it looks very likely that all teams will take a max 4 points

Problem is how are we going to keep so many players both happy & fit, assuming Mansell will be fit for Easter I can't see there's any rush to sign a player, unless there's a decent right winger prepared to join us but Bloom maybe able to fill that role now. Once Lockyer & co return we'll have about half a dozen players who can't even make the bench?
