Matty Taylor's goal record this season has been remarkable really, especially with the step up a league and having played far fewer games than last season (so far).
What a great signing and a great spot from DC.
2015/16 season so far -
22 goals from 33 starts and 9 sub appearances, including 1 penalty.
2014/15 season -
20 goals from 46 starts and 4 sub appearances, including 5 penalties.
This season, so far, MT is the League Two leader for…
Most goals scored as the last goal in the match (11) Most goals scored in the second half (17) Most goals scored on home ground (14) Most goals from inside the 6 yard box (8) Most hat-tricks (2) Lowest minutes per goal of all the main strikers (128 minutes per goal)
And for ALL games this season he is the highest scorer excluding penalties (MT has 22 overall including 1 pen, Jay Simpson has 23 but 3 were pens - he has also missed 3 pens - MT has scored all 7 pens he has taken as a BRFC player I think)

He'll be top scorer by the end of season. UTG

Fantastic achievement for a striker that hasn't played at this level. To be honest we should all get off players backs when things are not going so well and get behind them, he has taken a lot of stick off certain people on here but has certainly answered his critics. Only hope the rumours of him leaving are untrue.

I felt a bit sorry for Taylor against Cambridge, we sang songs about Gaffney, mildly, DC, Wael, but not Taylor yet he's our biggest asset Not unless I missed it, I don't think so as I was slumming it in the blackthorn for a change. ;-)

If memory hasn't gone totally, he hit the post with his penalty and I thought at the time 'of all penalties to miss'.
Thank you Tom Lockyer.

I thought we'd all agreed penalties don't count ;-)
It's a good spot on songs. Let's do a few rounds of the famous hymn "Thine cock is in the cup" on Monday to make up for it, hopefully get it on the fan cam

If the rumours are true and he is off to Hearts it will be a big loss for us - he really has come on a long way this season and i reckon he could do a good job at 1st division level. One things for sure and that is that we will have dropped a real clanger if he ends up going for nowt, something that we managed to prevent happening with all of our previous top scorers for as long as I can remember.

I think he'll get better with every season. Why the f**k would anyone wanna go to the frozen north and play for a sh** Scottish team in a sh** league. I'm sure we're more famous than Fearts (see what I did there) and if it's about money then maybe Mr Al quadi could help out there.

Yatton - That's great to hear but I'd have preferred him to have been signed up for another year already in the event that another club came in for him, although i suspect it could have had a destabiling affect on the squad if he had been singled out for a new contract and others hadn't. Let's hope we go up and he stays!

This is a tough one for DC. In dropping to the conference he found himself in a league where he it is the "norm" for only one year contracts to be offered. The downside is no "sell on fees" the upside is no big payoffs for players that lose form / get injured. I was about to say how much have we saved in not having to pay off.... And then realised it is only Blissett. We have seen Rory get an 18 month deal. I think we could see 18m / 24m deals being offered to a few... Tom, Lee, Matty v a 3 Year deal at Hearts? thoughts?

It's a tricky balance. I hope we don't drop the approach that has clearly worked well just because we have some financial clout and momentum. Not pretending you can play with the big money boys seems key to building a sustainable club over the long term. I think that's what our new owners want and so do I. But I hope sensible contract discussions are well advanced given its nearly end of season as we need to keep the core of this squad at a sensible cost

So how many do people guess he'll finish with? Earlier in the season I guessed 23 but I think he's gonna beat that now, so I'm gonna change mine to 26, 4 more goals in our final 8 games
