I don't know what it is about Hamer, I'm a good judge of character and something doesn't quite sit right about him for me. He reminds me of a politician. Says all the buzz words and diverts attention to where he wants it to go. I know they all do it to some degree. I just feel like he comes across a bit slippery. Something tells me he'll become a hate figure in a couple of seasons. I know this seems an odd thing to say as we're going through what seems to be a positive transition. I have my tin hat ready, so bring it on. The bottom line is, that without the takeover, BRFC would now be in dire financial straits. It is quite feasible that in a couple of seasons time, the club is still languishing in L2 and the stadium has not been delivered. The honeymoon period will be over and fans patience will probably be wearing a little thin. On the other hand, we could be established in L1 and challenging for another promotion with the UWE build well under way. I think SH has simply been installed as a spokesman for the new owners and I agree with you that professional spokespeople often come across as a bit slippery. The level of funding the owners provide, the way it is spent and their ability to deliver a new stadium will determine whether SH becomes a hate figure or a hero. In the meantime, the club is in a far more secure position than it was a few weeks ago, there is a real opportunity to win a second successive promotion and some serious people have been brought in to oversee the stadium project. I think the early comparisons with Chelsea and Man City may have been a bit premature but, as far as I can see, there's not too much to be negative about at the moment. In short Cautious optimism

or I'm just being a typical 'nothin ever good happens to us' type of gashead. Until something does ie a build start date can anybody blame us? not really we have had so many promises and riddles and false dawns. Well at least we're difinately building a car park.

Haha the BP seem to think we've sold 14,000 season tickets. Wouldn't that be nice! www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristol-City-Bristol-Rovers-got-season-tickets/story-29063559-detail/story.htmlWHILE Bristol Rovers teeter on the edge of promotion and Bristol City search for safety in the Championship, it's fair to say one eye is already on next season for supporters of both clubs. Pirates' season ticket sales for the 2016/17 campaign, due to the "early bird" prices, have gone past the 14,000 mark and, they are hoping to eclipse the amount sold prior to the current season, where they've climbed up to third in League Two.
Speaking recently, former Swansea City chief Hamer said: "There's has been a fantastic response and we've sold over 1,400 so far. The cut off date is April 22nd. Last season we sold 3,500 in total so it would be wonderful to achieve that by 22nd of April." For the Robins, a brand new 10,500-seater west stand will be in operation while a second consecutive stab at the English second tier under Lee Johnson could be confirmed in the next couple of weeks. The season card frenzy is in full flow ahead of the Ashton Gate completion but, when contacted over the sale of season tickets so far, the club did not respond.

I didn't think even that had been confirmed? SH has also given differing info on that subject originally saying work needed to start in the summer for an October completion (which made sense) to later saying work had to start in October (which made no sense).

I also thought the same but.... Have either of you actually met him? I've met him a couple of times now and it totally changed my opinion of him. He is very easy to talk to, smart and humble. He comes across in the media as slick because he is confident and knows what he is doing. Time will be the judge but I think he's alright.

LOL, perhaps that's the problem then, we've never be used to that at Rovers!! Although SH's spell at Swansea was hardly a great one, as you say time will be the judge and SH is only seemingly the spokesman not the main man.

Not seemingly, he is not the Main man BUT he is the Main man over here most of the time. In his position unless he comes out and says the Stadium will be built on ..... then he will be out of favour with some on here and a "user of words". Well I for one much prefer the words he uses to the words or lack of them that the other lot used. I would have thought the fact we have employed the people that we have would be enough to give them time before the usual "suspicions" start. It is hardly six weeks since they came in and what do some people expect? This is a multi million pound project that has gone on for absolute years so surely nobody thought that any firm announcement would be made so quickly. Remember this is a project which over the last couple of years has been mentioned as "pretty well dead", "running out of time", "UWE losing interest", "Supporters CONFIDENT that it won't go ahead" and talks of "administration". Surely the take over alone which certainly didn't come cheap would be enough for the time being? At least now we don't have that growing spiral of debt looming over us with very little hope of ever getting out of it. We have the right people installed doing their own jobs in the background and a Chairman who is careful with his words rather than blazing out with "It will be built atarting on xxxxxx in a "watertight" sort of way! If nothing has happened by the start of next season then that is the time to worry when the owners have had TIME (like six months) to show what they are going to do. They are not deceiving us, the main man told us that it would be an ongoing slow project and he would try to get over for ass many of the remaining games as possible-He has been to most!! Lets hold back on this topic until we have seen things like the squad for next season which alone will show if we are moving in the right direction although I see DC building it mainly in his own way and I don't see him as wanting to throw silly money at it,rather getting a mix of better players who fit his criteria and keeping the players he wants to on better contracts than was possible under the old regime. The new owners rightfully have different views on what the Stadium project will be like and I am sure he will get it right-is that possible in two months from taking over? No way. So until the details are all agreed and something signed and work started then the Chairman will rightfully be using his "air flight undercarriage" quote... at least he is consistent!! Now we ALL need to show a bit of patience or are there some on here who are actually willing something to go wrong so they can say "I told you so" or "I was the first to doubt this" Yes there are plenty of those on this and other forums.

It does show how easy it is to be a Chairman when you are using other peoples money, trying to compare NH and SH is not easy as they are coming from totaly different positions. It all looks good but so it should, we now have money, we think. I'd love to know how poorly Nick Higgs would have ran the show if it was someone else's bloody money! You'd think considering it was his he'd be even more careful!

I am only guessing but I imagine these last few weeks are the best in NH life for a good nights sleep.

Not sure anybody is "suspicious" or feels they are deceiving us just that until we have a firm announcement there's no point in planning where we're going to sit in the new stadium, just in it case it's never actually built dispite our new owners best intentions. As far as SH being consistent with his under carriage comment I sense you've missed the point as first he said it about the stadium now it's about promotion, which is merely an observation not something of major concern.

Yes I did notice it Topper Gas but its a bloody good quote and most apt to both the Stadium and the Promotion push.

Although much of his sleepless nights (if he had any) may of been his own fault - it has to be said that but for Trash and Sainsburys he might now be a hero?

If he had delivered the stadium then fair play but the fact that he ran the club like a Sunday league outfit for years and we were pretty much in free fall for most of his reign makes him our worst chairman in my life time in my book. Proper Gashead, but useless chairman.
