Hi guys, I'm conducting a little research to find out what people truly think of the official Bristol Rovers website; could you please answer the above poll and give your thoughts on the website in response if you get a chance. The website is www.bristolrovers.co.uk if you're unaware! Many thanks, Harley.

I think we were told that the format/design had to comply to certain standards and could not be changed ro we could get a fine.
I belive that Steve works part time so it is probably as good as it could be. No doubt when the new owners conduct a proper review of all things over the summer, the website is one of the things that will be re-vamped.

The website is www.bristolrovers.co.uk if you're unaware! Many thanks, Harley. I think it's poor and puts the club in a bad light, just a very quick look at lunch today i found: Fans forum link still on there FL panel – link broke Share scheme still on there – hasn’t this stopped. Suspension and injuries refer to JJ OT’s suspension and Alan Gow’s ligament damage Latest transfer news is that Jeffrey Monankana has joined on loan Youth department link doesn’t work I gave up then.... I am not knocking whoever is running this as i don't know the circumstances, I just think it has been poorly managed by the club and makes us look amateurish but i am sure that this will change now that we have a real businessmen in charge.

There is nothing on there that can't be found elsewhere. I get the information I need from here, bbc and @official_BRFC without having to struggle my way through the official website. I can't remember the last time I went on it.

It's horrendous to be honest. Don't even scratch the surface, the first link I click on at random (genuinely).. There is too much on the header so making the site slow to load; players profiles, only a few on there; plus all the above

Its much better at giving news / videos etc, although maybe quality of writing could be improved and drop the quantity a bit and give it a bit more thought! Less is sometimes more.
But sadly can't rely on it for some pretty basic club stuff (finding right phone number, shop opening hours, ticket info etc) and wouldn't be hard to make it much better. This isn't really the format / template but it just needs some TLC, much like so much about the club. Often easier to come on here and ask our resident ITK crowd.
Great example was Carlisle ticket info, I kind of knew it wouldn't sell out but couldn't find info over the bank holiday before I travelled. Laughably away tickets section still only shows Orient from August 2015!!

all the official club sites are the same, i think there is some sponsor or commercial reasoning. i think this is why so many unofficial sites sprung up

I am not sure if I am correct in saying this - but I don't think that it is a "Bristol Rovers" website in the true sense of the word. I think that it is a generic website peddled to most of the lower league sides. It is almost identical in layout to a lot of other club's websites and it carries identical advertising from, I presume, a gamut of advertisers that sponsor the publication. They all have identical hyperlinks to the same "gas player".
Having said that, I guess that it is the responsibility of someone at the club to "personalise" the layout (club colours, badges, player profiles, statistics etc). I presume that someone is also responsible for updating the club news.
Personally, I don't like it. It has a very fussy and confused homepage and is extremely difficult to navigate. Indeed many of the navigation buttons don't even work. I no longer trust the online shop for purchasing either Bristol Rovers merchandise or Matchday tickets.
On a positive note, I do think that the main items of club news are kept up to date. However, The website experience is not good and it is certainly not my main go to place for information about the club.

Short answer is it is sh**.
I know not the clubs fault as they were tied into the FLPT contract. However I do wonder who or what the process is for updating the info on there.

A lot of people do not use Twitter or Facebook, therefore the website needs to be updated frequently and asap when announcing any sort of ticket information home or away. I go on the site every day and find it quite useful. However I am now addicted to gaschat!

I can't remember the last time I went on it. Same here I try and avoid the generic website as much as possible, a bit like the B Post site, although there seems little point in doing surveys/complaining about it as the club seems to be stuck with whatever the Fl sign up for.

No doubt when the new owners conduct a proper review of all things over the summer, the website is one of the things that will be re-vamped. I've heard this before. However a website is a way of marketing your company and I don't understand how someone outside of the club can place restrictions on this. If we went it alone, what could we do with the website that the powers that be would be so against?
