But why did everyone know it was needed? Coz DC has done that sort of thing before, and it worked. DC did, not the crowd. Why were the crowd keen for OC to come on, coz DC has brought him along and turned him into a reliable, useful squad player, even starting many games of our winning run, when a lot of the crowd were saying he wasn't good enough. Why was Montano playing, coz DC persisted with him, and kept him in the squad, and bringing him on as sub when most people thought he didn't have a future with us. And then when Montano comes good, repaying DC's faith in him, then a few games back suddenly DC is in the wrong for dropping him. Sometimes listening to people on here it's like someone's nearly finished a 5,000 piece jigsaw puzzle, they've spent weeks on it, and someone else comes along and puts one piece in, and seem to think they did the whole puzzle. Amazing no-one knows anything unless DC has told them. Yeah, not sure what you're talking about. I didn't say anything like that.

Top scorer in the LEAGUE, an people still have a moan FFS f**k off down to the Gate where you belong. I don't give a fig about "Work Rate" I just want him to score the winning goals, and he does. This argument was exactly the same about that "lazy lady garden Cureton" Winner of the Golden Boot 2 years running. A good striker knows what balls to chase and when not to. Some of you still subscribe to the Holloway Headless Chicken style of football, and where did that get us? I agree with most of that except for the last bit. We played cracking football under Holloway it wasn't really headless chicken stuff. Although I would agree it wasn't ultimately successful because we didn't win promotion.

To a certain extent I agree with Phillistine and understand what he was saying. Yesterday, and last week, when he was playing mainly up front, he didn't put in the effort chasing their defenders down like Gaffney does when he is up front alone! Gaffney always works his socks off! Earlier in the season Matty would always 'put in a shift', even when he wasn't scoring and was worth his place in the side, if only for that! Now, he's become the striker we want, but seems to have lost some off the work-rate he had earlier. Having said that, when he dropped back to the left and Gaffney went up front alone, he did work much harder and you can't deny the quality of the finish! We also looked much better in that formation against a very useful Exeter. Yes, but you're assuming DC and MS haven't told him to stop chasing down left right and centre to save his energy. Surely it's possible they've identified that as a 'weakness' in his current role in the side and have told him to reign it in a bit so he's fresh for the next chance that comes along rather than chasing down loads of hopeless balls that are always going to get to the corner flag before he gets to them? I for one didn't see any of the backroom team telling him he wasn't working hard enough on Saturday. This would also complement the way he and Gaffney play for long clearances.....you want Gaffney winning the header and Taylor running onto it. Doesn't always work like that as I suspect not all our long balls go where they are aimed, but you see my point, do we want him running at pace onto flick-ons or burning that energy charging down the keeper/defender who 99 times out of a hundred has plenty of time to clear it...?

And once we are on top their clueless manager won't be able to make a tactical change to win them the game. Happy days. Are you suggesting that Clarke for Montano was a DC masterstroke? Every single person in the bloody ground could see that was needed. For those who have missed the point, the beauty of the tactical change was to make it at the right point. We could all see Montano needed to come off, but as well as the three points on Saturday DC is also thinking about the next three points and the three after that...I would have made it earlier (probably even at halftime). Maybe I was right. DC made it after 62 minutes and won 3-1. So DC was definitely right as it's only points on the board and goals in the net that count....

when I started this thread I was trying to continue a conversation I was having in the ground with the guys around me about the fact that Matty had become a natural goal scorer with the proven highest percentage of goals to chances ratio. We felt that this aspect of his game had improved dramatically from the player he was last season. I pointed out that in my opinion ( and this view seemed to be shared by many who use the scoring system on the rate players section) he didn't have a great all round game but when it mattered he could move up a notch and score. He had a new found composure whereas last year he would have a rush of blood on many 1:1,s and missed more than he should have.
If I look back at the pre season threads and even after the first Northampton game I and others wondered if Matty could make the transition as he wasn't going to get the amount of chances that he had last season . Look at how many Akinde scored last season compared to this. To my mind Matty deserves great credit for working on that aspect of his game and I am sure that Marcus Stewart deserves credit as I feel that his coaching has helped.
I mentioned T,bone in the thread title because his judgement was obviously based on what he saw last year and I felt that he should be given the chance to re-appraise his thinking based on what he now saw.
What has shocked me is how the whole point of the thread has been ignored and people have chosen to see it as a negative criticism of our top scorer and personally attack forum members and use obscene terms to describe them - nothing short of the mob mentality.
Sadly The people who praise DC to the hilt are the ones who will bay for his blood when we go 6 games without a win - which will surely happen . I now realise that this forum is not the place for measured and thought out debate and will sign out once and for all
Up the gas and fingers crossed for promotion

I now realise that this forum is not the place for measured and thought out debate and will sign out once and for all Up the gas and fingers crossed for promotion The problem is not in the point you were trying to make, but more so in that it appeared you were defending the indefensible. TBone constantly said that despite playing well he was judging MT on goals. His mantra of "Did He Score?" was trotted out regardless of the results and regardless of MTs performance. However, when MT scores TBone then judges his performance. Oh, he scored but he played sh**. (check out the Exeter player ratings thread from Saturday!) There is absolutely no fairness shown there and absolutely no point being proved. Just self contradiction in order to justify a personal vendetta against one of our own players. Given the dogs abuse he has given MT and DC the last 2 seasons I'm sure no one is buying the "I'm all hurt because some people said some nasty things" routine. It may be a shame that your original point was lost because you are correct in saying that Taylor has become a much better player this year and yes his overall form seems to have dipped in the last few games but he is still scoring and defenders are still sh** scared of him. But quite how that equated to TBone being right certainly escaped this poster.

I've had tbone on 'ignore' for ages now. It's the best place for him. If he is continuing his 'Taylor is crap' and 'DC is clueless' mantra, then it is obvious the bloke hasn't a clue, so just ignore him. Jobs a good 'un.

Seems to me that the team have progressed so much in the last couple of years that people are running out of things to moan about. Having to resort to in-fighting. Kindergarten stuff. Come on guys, we are on the brink of something special here. Just enjoy the ride. Play nicely.

I'm not sure, it feels like he is missing a lot less this year so presumably we are creating less?

If we are getting over run in midfield you do something,if we are coping then fine it's not rocket science well thats what dc did,he took off montano and brought on ollie clarke with mansell going left but tucking in more but the decision was easier because montano wasnt effective in the 2nd half imo. for me its not such an obvious thing because it means your opponents are dictating the way your playing and forcing you to play in a style you dont wish too.
