Mark Yates has been sacked at Crawley, a month after their new Turkish owner rocked up and bought the club. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36132455Ok, the circumstances are a bit different (6 losses on the trot would test many owners, and end of a season is a 'good' time to make changes) but it is interesting.

They only went on their losing streak after the takeover. Might be a coincidence, or it might have something to do with the way the new owner handled things.

TBH I could never see where any major investor is going to take Crawley as they are always going to be a lower league club ,as they simply don't have the fan base.

There is are more ManUre fans in Crawley than support the club. The Company I work for does some sponsorship there as we are the second biggest employer in town behind Gatwick Airport.

It may have been the fault of the previous owners that Rovers were relegated, but one thing to their credit was that they did not make the manager the scapegoat. It would have been very easy to have sacked Clarke, especially as a few here were baying for blood. That they decided to stick with him was a good and brave decision. (..one of few good decisions, admittedly)

But Wigan is a sports town with its Rugby League and the north west is a football hit spot. They started moving up the leagues and with the new stadium they gave their fans a good football experience. Do that and mix it with success you start to develop a fan base. Never going to happen in Crawley IMO. Just because you have new owners isn't an automatic good thing, it's more about the quality of them and what kind of people they are. Crawley had new owners that got them into the league and according to some they were perhaps not the best with questionable motives! Our new owners are true gems from what I have seen to date and we are fortunate. Never thought I would say that with Rovers! And ....most will disagree with me here, I think that we have to thank the last board and NH for keeping their nerve and selling to the right people. I say that because didn't the rumours say there were others interested in buying us but that NH continually said, in response to questions about being sold, it has to be the right people. And in that he was correct and he saw it through! (It's ok I've got my hard hat on.)

We are so, so lucky to have Wael & co. and while NH is/was a divisive character surely if his legacy is nothing other than handing the keys over to WAQ then it's a good one.

To be fair to NH he seems to have put all the foundations in place for Wael ie a good young manager, a decent squad of players and perhaps best of all the staduim plans, not forgetting regaining our football league status. Cross any one of those achievements off the list and Wael may have looked elsewhere?

I've not heard NH say that either? Although what other Chairman has sold a club with full pp for a stadium like the UWE?
