In fairness, we are yet to see where Wael will take us, early bloody days for calling him a soddin messiah. The early signs are encouraging but the time for shouting he's better than bleedin him or her are a fair way off still. Seems a nice guy, and oh yeah i've met a few of them in my time, lets hope his words have substance long term, until then i think i'll keep me soddin fingers crossed. Good day to you. you say soddin a soddin lot your Lordship.

Should the chairman / board then be responsible for selecting and recruiting players or should they, correctly, back the manager judgement? I've yet to see evidence of any board deliberately employing a manager they believed would fail. No of course they shouldn't, that's why you have a manager. If you take a moment to re-read you will see that I was replying to Topper's suggestion that NH should get credit for backing some of DC's signings, so it follows that he should receive credit for the excellent squad we currently have. I was highlighting the fact that he also backed some managers who made absolutely disastrous signings and so it should also follow that he receives some of the blame for that. My point is that when you look at our record on the pitch during NH's time as chairman, overall it looks pretty grim. For me his legacy will be that he "looked after" Rovers for several years and then passed the reigns to the Al Qadis and for that we should be very greatful. I don't think for a second think that Nick Higgs ever wanted Rovers to fail, just that he wasn't capable of getting the right people in the building to ensure we were a success. For the record I don't have anything against NH and for all his perceived failings I like to think he was always doing what he felt was best for the club at the time, I just think he was a bit out of his depth. That's what I knew you would say but it's not how your previous post read to me. NH had many failings but not backing his managers (however bad a choice they were) to bring in players wasn't one of them. But Hugo's advice is best move on NH is the past. I doubt many will though.

Yeah we could miss out on promotion and Wael could sack DC and a year from now we could be needing two wins to stay in the league. Promising yes, messiah ? Let's wait and see.

I'm not even sure what your point is? You knew I would say what? How did my previous post read? Who said NH didn't back his managers? I think you're trying to find a difference of opinions where there isn't one. And why can't we discuss NH and his legacy? Can we discuss Wembley 2015? Because that's in the past. Wembley 2007? That was nine years ago. Promotion in 1990? Perhaps you and Hugo should draw up a list of topics we can and can't discuss, that's probably the safest bet.

I like having a laugh with people on here it's all a bit of fun really, if people get 'offended' with light hearted comments with no malice intended then perhaps going on a forum isn't the best thing for them to do , don't get me wrong I enjoy a difference of opinion and and friendly heated discussion, but my intentions are to never purposely upset someone. all in all I think all you forum members are a good bunch and we all have Bristol rovers best interests at heart ! UTG !!!!!

I actually agree with you, his legacy is atrocious! He will be remembered as one of the most devisive chairman in our history. My post was simply saying that his legacy is not something worth us falling out over. I don't care what is discussed here, fill your boots.

Must admit I'd taken my eye off others clubs predicaments this season, so I was a bit shocked to see the sad sad state that blackburn have got themselves into. I know the Venkys were never popular, but what a mess! 100 million in debt, no manager, no managing director, no chairman, no communications director, and probably more. No contact between the owners and the club, and it seems no further interest. I can see Villa going the same way. Fingers crossed our bloke is as good as his word.
