I know they're a small club but after watching their highlights on sky, their fans reaction when they scored was pretty crap considering what it should have meant to them. They average 1,700 in an area swamped by football clubs. How are they going to survive in League 1?

Meanwhile, on PASOTI, the world has ended and there's no chance of beating Portsmouth The table doesn't lie at this stage of the season. They're inconsistent and have a lot of expectations on their shoulders. I wouldn't be surprised if Plymouth knocked them out to be honest. Maybe they're not ready to go up quite yet, in which case it's better to be a top dog in League 2 than a whipping boy in League 1 and come down again.

With umpteen Premier & Championship clubs around them why would you support them?

Accrington stanley. Annoying little team aren't they. Why don't they just F##k off and let the proper teams fight it out? Go away. The table doesn't lie....it didn't two years ago either. Any team that gets more points that us is worthy of finishing ahead of us, otherwise what's the point of playing 46 games....? Oh I agree, it's just the conversation I've had with a few people at work (who happen to support portsmouth, plymouth and wimbledon) that we all thought Accrington would fade away, and rather annoyingly, they haven't.

Sometimes it's a case of of what goes around comes around. They were proud founder members of the Football League and twice finished second in Division 3 North. Having gone bankrupt all those years ago, it seems they're on a mission to at least emulate their former glories. Bradford PA will be next, but then which football fan doesn't love a bit of romance...
Wiki: The original town team, Accrington, were amongst the twelve founder members of the Football League in 1888, before resigning from the league after just five years. A team called Stanley Villa already existed at the time, named as such because they were based at the Stanley Arms on Stanley Street in Accrington. With the demise of Accrington, Stanley Villa took the town name to become Accrington Stanley.[citation needed]
The club re-formed after World War I and entered the League in 1921 with the formation of the old Third Division North, along with the other top northern non-League clubs.[citation needed]
In four decades of league football they never achieved promotion from the Third Division. Their best-ever league position was finishing second in that division, in the 1954–55 season and again in 1957–58.[citation needed]
In 1960, amid persistent financial difficulties mainly relating to the speculative purchase of the new Burnley Road stand, Stanley were relegated to the recently formed Division Four. However, they only managed to complete one full season in this division as bankruptcy followed shortly afterwards. On 12 February 1962 Edwin Slinger, the chairman, resigned and revealed that Stanley owed up to £4,000 in unpaid transfer fees and a similar sum to the Inland Revenue. Pilkington, as life vice president, brought in Bob Lord, who persuaded the rest of the board to resign by promising to buy shares, despite his chairmanship of nearby Burnley. Stanley lost their last League match 4–0 away at Crewe on 2 March 1962[1] and, at a creditors' meeting shortly afterwards, further unsecured creditors was revealed. The club sent a letter of resignation to the Football League and the resignation was accepted by Alan Hardaker, the League Secretary on 11 March, mid-way through the 1961–62 season.
Stanley were accepted into the Lancashire Combination Division Two for the next season, and with some local investors stepping forward to reduce debts to a more manageable level, it seemed like a new beginning for the club. They performed respectably well in their first season in the Combination, and earned their first (and only) promotion the following year. Unfortunately this proved to be a false dawn, as Stanley were immediately relegated after finishing bottom of Division One.[citation needed]
After four seasons in the Lancashire Combination the club disbanded. Two years later the club was reformed.[2]

Accrington deserve huge credit for what they have done this season with the smallest budget in the football league. If they beat us to automatic promotion then they will have deserved it and good luck to them.

If we didn't lose both our games to Accy it would be in our hands now so can't grumble

Think some comments on here are a bit disrespectful and arrogant towards Stanley, mostly cos they have few fans. They have done brilliantly to be where they are. They took about a third of their home crowd away yesterday, similar to us and Oxford. They have a small following but so what? Probably a bigger proportion of their town support them than can be said for us. And considering their location it would be easy to support more successful sides. Burton, Accrington and Leicester are examples of why football allows us all to live in hope. I desperately want them to fail next week but if they don't then a massive well done to them. UTG

Yeah, basically, the smaller the following, the bigger the achievement.

People moaning about the Stevenage game when we couldn't take one point from Accrington! If they finish above us then they deserve it more no matter how small they are. They have been annoying of late because they just keep winning!

Not sure where the sense of entitlement is coming from our fans of late, acting like we should be in a higher league and calling Accy tinpot. If we deserved to be there we would be above there by now. Some of the comments on this forum is what you would expect on OTIB. Where do we get off acting all high and mighty. Good luck to Accy I say. I can't see anyone slipping up next week, we'll be in the playoffs where we deserve to be. Your only as good as the games you have won, not the money in your bank or the size of your fan base.

Football webpages have BRFC to finish third in their prediction table. Accrington to win 2-1 Rovers to win 2-0 Oxford to draw 0-0

Anything can happen on the final day, all teams will be nervous and have pressure on them. Teams have lost games you would expect them to win.
Stevenage on a good run lately last 4 they drew with us and Wimbledon and won the other 2. Accrington and Oxford have both dropped points at home recently, when you would have expected them to win.
Even Dagenham have won there last 2!! Lol It's going to be a nervy day and hopefully we can somehow finish in the top 3!
If the others do both win, I hope there are no late goals involved!

Whilst I don't think either team will slip up... some positives... Aside from Exeter, Accrington have drawn more games at home than ANY other side in the top half Accrington have conceded the MOST goals at home in the top 7 Aside from Exeter, Oxford have won the LEAST games at home from teams in the top half Accrington have dropped points in 3 of the last 5 home games Oxford have also dropped points in 3 of the last 5 home games Those are just surface level stats. It's not over yet. Stevenage only 1 defeat in 8 whilst conceding just 4 goals Maybe those still hanging onto our Stevenage 'disaster' will gain some perspective now and get off DCs back over changing the side to tackle the project

They did a good deal with Rangers for Windybottom and his mate, who do you think has been paying the wages for those two this year ? Not knocking them, just saying it is a good deal, but if we had done that with our players some would have gone crazy on here.
