I read somewhere else, that before DC, Rovers have had five promotions in 130 years. Now we've had two in two years. In that context, it really is quite remarkable. Not only that, but it was achieved without the influx of any new money. We obviously have to wait and see what monies will be made available to DC over the summer, but the indications are very good. Dare we dream, that with some quality additions to the current squad, we can push on again next year, with a play-off spot the target?
DC doesn't seem to be the type to settle for 'consolidation'. I don't think he's interested in just staying in Div One, nor a safe spot mid-table. This guy wants to win. If Wael is as good as his word, and he 'invests' in DC, then the sky could be the limit.
Still smiling, still giggling, still singing to myself, "We've Got Our Rovers Back!".

We ain't stopping in L1 that's for sure. DC will very much want us to keep pushing. And why not? We have a squad of young players all of whom are coming into their prime at the right time. With a few quality additions and if we can keep hold of our best players, we can keep our winning momentum going for another year.

DC doesn't seem to be the type to settle for 'consolidation'. I don't think he's interested in just staying in Div One, nor a safe spot mid-table. This guy wants to win. www.westerndailypress.co.uk/s-proudest-day-football-ndash-Clarke/story-29248027-detail/story.html?Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke said that promotion to League One has laid the ghosts of relegation to rest on "the proudest day of his career". Clarke watched on as Lee Brown hit a stoppage-time winner in a 2-1 victory against Dagenham & Redbridge with almost the final kick of the whole season in a dramatic finale at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Accrington's failure to score against Stevenage in a 0-0 draw meant Clarke and his players secured back-to-back promotions for the first time in the club's history, almost two years to the day they were relegated out of the Football League. "This promotion feels like some sort of redemption and I'm so proud of everybody who has made a contribution to it," said Clarke. "I love this group of players and all of my staff. I can't speak highly enough of all of them. They are such a close-knit group with bags and bags of mental strength. I set them a target of finishing in the top seven and if they have only managed to do that they would have been punching above their weight. "To gain automatic promotion has been a fantastic effort and is a the perfect way to end a perfect season. I'm just so delighted by what we have achieved for our supporters. I was nearly in tears on the bench. To see the joy in their faces at the end was priceless. "It was the best feeling in the world. I'm a very, very proud man on what is the proudest day of my career." Clarke will marry fiancee Vicky over the summer, but the work of building for what would be a third consecutive promotion challenge will continue following a short break. " I'm not the sort of manager who is ever going to be happy to target a mid-table finish," said Clarke. "There is more work to be done because I am not one to stand still and I am still hungry for more.
"We will enjoy our summer and then we will be looking to kick on again in League One. The work of recruitment will go on and we'll be trying to tie players down.
"I've mentioned that we will be rewarding every player with at least a 12-month contract. There will be players who deserve longer and we will be looking to add more quality to boost competition for places.
"For now, we must celebrate this group of players because they have performed under immense pressure for the last two years and every one of them should be remembered for what they have done over the last two seasons for years and years to come." Clarke and the players were carried on the shoulders of supporters as scenes of unbridled celebration took place on the Memorial Stadium pitch long after the final whistle. "These are the times we have to enjoy because we have been through the dark days," said Clarke. "We are a club that has been brought back together again and it feels absolutely fantastic to be a part of it. "It was just such a dramatic way to end the season. To score in the 92nd minute was something else. I wanted to keep believing, but with every chance that went begging I had the niggling feeling that it was going to be one of those days." That was before an unlikely scorer in the shape of Brown converted a rebound.

Totally agree with all this. Why stop now. Playoffs have to be the minimum target yet again.
Our new owners haven't come here to be a mid table league one owner. We have to believe there cannot be a limit to ambition here. There is only one target for ambitious owners, and the last two seasons have only got us half way there.

We already have championship players in Browners,Lockyer,Leadbitter and Taylor, we should look at building a strong squad around them and really make a go of it next season.
My only fear is DC will be to loyal to his close-knit group and lack the quality to progress.

New centre mid, new centre back and 2 new wingers required. I think it's best if we just let DC sort all that out.

His ambition is amazing and something I've never known from any previous managers of ours.
I do feel though that league one will be a completely different kettle of fish and far more difficult. Some of the current squad might not be able to hack it so additions will be needed.
The last two seasons we have started off quite slow, lingering just above mid table until the new year. So if we find ourselves around mid table by Christmas time then you never know....

My only fear is DC will be to loyal to his close-knit group and lack the quality to progress. This is a tricky one because you could reference how Trollope was not loyal enough to his players who got us where we did thus ultimately starting the downfall. Those players were good enough to keep us around mid table but too many of them were let go too close together.

Yeah, but I don't think we'll have time for the luxury of a slow start next season. We'll need to hit the ground running, this time.

I blame the board for the downward spiral - PT was replacing spirit with quality and I still believe if he was given time he would of turned it around.

He had no problem dropping Lines and even Taylor this season. I would love us to keep the squad together but I think it's DC that's fostered and brought that spirit about and I'd trust him to get that out of any player he adds to the group.

Yeah I do too. I also blame them for not backing Penny when he tried to sort it out. However, NH did at least seem to have finally learned from that when he backed DC early on in his tenure. For me, that decision could end up being what he's remembered for rather than all the other sh**e that went on under his leadership.

We also saw how DC works with Monkhouse. There was no doubt DC wanted to keep him, but they couldn't agree on a deal, so it was 'off you go, and thanks for everything you've done'. Move on.

Yeah if three or four fringe players left and were replaced with players of Taylor's/ lockyers quality then we can go for promotion again. No big changes needed just small improvements.

I'd like to see a new gk, CB, CM & LW.
