Don't overlook the great Mark Wright! Not sure what happened with Dickson & co after than Southampton game but it was all down hill from there, the fact PT's never touched a management job since suggests he accepts he's better coaching than managing. My concern about offering all this season's players new contracts is we're going to have the likes of Puddy & Lawrence, even Parkes & Gosling, still with us when really they haven't even proven themselves at Div 2 level. You also do also wonder whether even the likes of Mildenahll, Mansell & McChrystal can step up another division at this stage of their careers. Although I guess some of these players themselves may decide they need to look elsewhere if they want reualr 1st team football next season. DC might offer all those players contracts but that doesn't mean they'll be much bigger deals or that the players will sign. I wouldn't be surprised if the likes of Gosling and Puddy don't sign, they'll probably be told that they probably won't be playing much and will go to league 2 clubs where they can get more playing time I would have thought. Broadly think you are right but I think Puddy will accept the contract as I can't see him getting a L2 starting position. He's played for 45 mins (okay 47 as he bizarrely came out for the second half at Daggers) of League football in a season, suffers from a perception that he's a small keeper and in the biggest game he's played you'd have to question his decision making. Unfortunately if he stays then it would seem Preston (and I've not a clue how good he is or isn't) would have to go before you could bring in any competition for Milds

We ain't stopping in L1 that's for sure. DC will very much want us to keep pushing. And why not? We have a squad of young players all of whom are coming into their prime at the right time. With a few quality additions and if we can keep hold of our best players, we can keep our winning momentum going for another year. It will be interesting to see what happens. DC has already talked about players "punching above their weight" this season, which can be taken as a compliment but also perhaps a signal that he thinks some have already gone a bit further than than could be expected. He has also liked to pick players to come to the club that he knows from the past. This can be less and less of an option as we go into L1. These two things mean he will need to recruit, but not players he already knows, so I think next season will be a much more significant test of just how good a manager he is. No English league club has ever managed 3 successive promotions. (Gretna did it in Scotland and some clubs have done it further down English non-league) so a top half finish with no real threat of relegation all season would be a good result for me. (..but that was all I predicted for the season just ended and look what happened)

Totally agree with all this. Why stop now. Playoffs have to be the minimum target yet again. Our new owners haven't come here to be a mid table league one owner. We have to believe there cannot be a limit to ambition here. There is only one target for ambitious owners, and the last two seasons have only got us half way there. Our new owners didn't expect us to get promotion this season when they took over.

Anyone watch the "made in Bristol" DC interview? Quite revealing twist on the "everyone getting a contract" story as whilst clear he is going to honour that, was also clear not all would be attractive. Worth watching but I genuinely believe he will make good (and fair) decisions in the interests of progress not just show blind loyalty. He's a smart, charming but ruthless manager, just what we need. I genuinely don't think we've ever had that before

Wrt our crowds, we will clearly have extra ST holders, which is great. I hope the young pirates/kids ST scheme gets bigger aswell.
