Bodin's a cracking little player, will be hugely disappointed if we don't tie him down.

I think Bodin could be a replacement for Matty Taylor if he leaves, cente forward is his prefered position and his finishing is as good if not better.

Billy's our best player IMO, noticed his loss for 60 mins away at Stevenage. Sign him up!

Always had a soft spot for Ellis, and where would we be without his Wembley equaliser! He's our character in the dressing room and his team mates bounce off his fun and exuberance.
As for Billy Bob I still think he has the ability to step up to be the predator required if Matty leaves. UTG

Agree, Elis- might need the game time. However, the rumours suggest he's on decent wages. If true, he probs gets the best deal here. But he's at a time when playing is very important.
If I were BRFC i would consider offering him a year deal, with view to loan him in the 6 months, give him a real shot at game minutes. Possibly Newport? Providing there's interest. Demand that he trains with us a day a week too.

More worried about Taylor than these 2. Bodin I definitely can't see going, personally. Ellis might go for first team football but I hope he stays (I think I do anyway!).

I dunno. Bodin stayed at Torquay for a few years, and this is probably (I really don't know but I'd be surprised he'd played this well for long stretches before, otherwise what was he doing in L2?) the first bit of really consistent form he's shown in his career, and he's in a team on the up, with a bit of extra spending power. Don't really see what he has to gain by leaving so soon. I don't think anyone's gonna bung Matty Taylor amounts of cash at him.

Re Ellis' wages. His contract is about to run out and there's nothing I have seen to suggest DC has promised to equal or better what they're on, so he might get a slight reduction. I can't imagine he's on mega bucks though. Maybe 2K max?

Bodin is a great player who disappears in the second half, why I have no idea, cure that and the is no limit as to his potential.

i think if we loss taylor and bodin, then we are back to be a selling club and wouldnt have moved on, it will back to third divi normality all over again.

It's just natural for Gasheads to think that following any success at all, we must lose some of our best players. Hopefully that sort of thinking should be left in the past, now.

We know both will be offered new deals and, although I couldn't know the value of his contract, I would be very surprised if Billy Bodin chose not to sign. In Ellis' case, he knows that he will get game time at Rovers, even if mostly from the bench. From the situation 2 years ago when he seemed very likely to leave, he seems much more content at the club. If I was to bet, it would be on both signing their new deals.

Our problem in the past has always been paying ridiculous money to new players who have not proved to be very good rather than reward existing players who have proven both their ability and their loyalty. IMO McCrystal, Mildenhall and Parkes are probably still on their old contracts and paid more than most of the others. With our new owners hopefully we can offer good pay rises to the ones who have been on poor pay and those who have been over paid for Conference football maybe hold their existing wage or even reduce if it is well above the others.

Pre Darrel Clarke, I would agree, but he has had a much more realistic approach to contract discussions. Accepting some of the loan signings have been hit or miss, very few of his permanent signings have struggled to make a contribution and I'd personally include Liam Lawrence in that.

I think Bodin will stay and if he does I definitely wouldn't be moving him off the wing for next season.
He scored 13 from the wing last season and got numerous assists too, so why would you move him? A goal scoring winger is a massive asset for any squad, and moving him upfront if MT leaves doesn't automatically mean he'll score as many or more goals.
We should be replacing MT if he leaves and keeping Bodin on the wing IMO, where he's been absolutely terrorising defences all season. I think he's better coming in off the right and finding space in pockets, rather than being upfront with his back to goal and a big CB breathing down his neck.
