If I was Taylor I'd take the highest offer. A football career is short and the world is a tough place to make decent money. Heard MT and Lee Gregory new partnership at Celtic.

If Taylor does go, I still truly think that Bodin would be a natural replacement - especially now that we seem to have a new right winger to take Bodin's place. Bodin isn't a forward and the new guy is a left-winger other than that spot on .

I have to s the lack of a decision to leave from Matty probably says more about the lack of offers, or his desire to stay than anything else. He knows what's on offer here, he must know what he's been offered elsewhere. If was going, he would have surely gone. Parkes didn't take a month to make up his mind, did he?

No I don't, and I'm not even sure that he would be up to championship standard yet. But champions league aside, the standard of the SPL is similar to top end of league one imo so they won't be making signings similar to the other top European teams. I was just passing on what I'd heard

I think its a no brainer. He can leave on very good terms and have a go at a higher level, Holloway did it and came back. If it all works out great but if not he could then return. Id love him to stay as i like the way he plays even without scoring. I like the fact Harrison has signed as hes a play player that will grow so him and Gaffney up front would be a good base to start. I think Celtic would be a good move as he will shine in 'non league' football again ;-)

MT would also be a brave man to stall or that type of offer!

His agent is trying to get him 10k a week, i imagine we've offered 4-5k with a release clause. No need for any club to offer 10k to secure him knowing his offer from us will be much less, also they may offer him only one year to prove himself whereas i'm sure our offer will be 2 or 3.

i cant for 1 minute see matty heading to celtic, like others have said if celtic offered him a decent contract i think he would already have said bye. also im sure brendan rodgers would be looking for some proven quality they are in the champs league.

I have a contact at Oxford, they have also been talking to MT's agent. They confirmed that he thought he could get £10k from a Championship Club, but clearly that was proving more difficult. Oxford offered £3,500 a week plus some interesting Bonuses, & I am told that this was not dismissed out of hand, though they expected someone else to pay more. That was about 10 days ago, so things might have moved on, but thought I would share.

I think Taylor's agent lives in a fantasy world, a championship club will give him a chance with no fee being involved but for a player with no league one experience they aren't going to shoulder the risk that comes with a 10k a week contract over 2 or 3 years. I expect our offer is around the 3500 to 4000 a week area and would be staggered if he chose oxford even if they have showed interest. Losing players to clubs in our own division is surely something for a previous era.

Tom Parkes turned down the BRFC contract to go to a lower division club ,so that was a player choosing to leave when offered the chance to stay. Unless BRFC goes back to those high income long contract days for average players ,players will always be liable to find a better opportunity elsewhere. For me I like the one year contracts with incentives tied to success...keeps people hungry and on their toes.

I doubt DC was desperate to keep Parkes and for all we know he might have taken a pay cut just to get regular first team football at Orient if he knew Hartley was going to join us? Taylor's a different prospect as it sounds like we've made him a very good offer which I doubt will be beaten by most Div 1 sides, hence I assume why his agents keeps talking up offers from Championship sides, even though none have actually come out and shown any interest in signing him.

If Taylor does go, I still truly think that Bodin would be a natural replacement - especially now that we seem to have a new right winger to take Bodin's place. I don't think we should be changing anything about Bodin's game at all. We have a match winning winger in the squad who scores and assists plenty cutting in from the right - let's leave him doing that IMO. He's never scored as many goals as he did on the wing for us last season, and I think he's far more suited to running at defenders from deep than he is with his back to goal and a big CB breathing down his neck constantly. Moving Bodin creates a problem (finding another match winning winger) and most likely doesn't solve the problem of replacing a 20+ goal a season striker. Moore is also a left winger!
