Taylor not going to stay and Bodin offered a crap contract-hope we're not going back to the old ways of not retaining our best players. Do you actually know he's been offered a crap contract? Or is it just more nonsense that spreads like wildfire? No i don't know for sure but when i here things like that and given our previous history it worries me slightly.

Agreed, its a different situation to bringing new players in, these and tried and tested and work for us so they should be offered their value to us.
Only if we can afford them, DC may feel he can do better for less Money In DC we i trust
Maybe, but with the loan system changing he would have to get the right players in first time

No smoke without (wild) fire. Up to you whether you pay any attention to that smoke though. Really? The papers regularly make things up that turn out to be complete rubbish yet people still take it as gospel. Don't read papers then, perhaps burn them instead and watch the smoke.

IMO he will still offer something as a squad player, is a natural leader and seems a good person to have in the dressing room. You need characters at football club's and he's one of our biggest IMO.

What hav you heard? Would you like to share your information? I think Billy Bob would do a good job for us in league 1. It would be a shame if we lose him. Agree here. I think Bodin can do a great job for us again. If Taylor leaves he may even fill that slot. What have you heard? Sorry to disappoint but Ive heard nothing and am not ITK. I asked the question as I thought the other poster had reliable information. I do hope he stays as he is an exciting player and every time he gets the ball on the right and cuts in a buzz of expectation goes around the ground. Love your avatar by the way; anyone we know?

I'd actually be more disappointed if bodin went rather than Taylor. I know that's illogical, given the fantastic things that Taylor has contributed in the last two years. Maybe it's because I'm already resigned to Taylor leaving? Or maybe I have a feeling that Bodin could easily step up? I rather hope they both stay. Time will tell I guess.

i think the longer it takes for taylor to sign for someone else the better chance we have of resigning him? i dont know but i feel like if all these so called top teams had put a decent offer in he would have jumped ship already? i know we have a right to match any offer but if for arguments sake a top champ team offered him 8k a week (which i dont think is breaking the bank for alot of champ teams) would we really be in a position to match that? just thinking out loud so to speak

I think contracts run until the end of June anyway so as he's still getting paid there's no rush to sign somewhere else. I'd be very surprised if he was still here. Shame we didn't tie him to an extra year when we came back to L2.

His agent is desperately trying to get him a championship club but i sense the ones that are interested don't want to offer him decent money or a long contract in case he can't perform two leagues above what he's used to.

MT will stay if we match his money offered.
What that would be I am unsure. I would imagine 15-20 a week in championship but might be less for an untried player? 10k?
If we can afford it through Wael then keep him as we know he is effective, works hard and is integral to our play. Matty is not just a finisher, he's the most involved in all our forward play and his contribution to the team equals or beats his goals scored - and that really is saying something.
2 players who we would not have got promoted twice without - Matt Taylor and Chris Lines for me. Although ALL are legends and are already in the halls of greatness!
I'm not sure we should be spending beyond our means so if he goes, he goes. No one will blame the guy at 26 for a shot at fame, we will welcome him home. As supporters, collectively we had little faith in him. We didn't give a 3 year, we as supporters not the club have any right demanding loyalty. Matt has done it on merit. Another 3 months at the start of poor finishing and he would now be at Huntingdon farnborough Dynamo and working part time.
I hope we keep him though.

Up to you whether you pay any attention to that smoke though. Is it a worse contract than the one offered to non league BRFC players a few years ago ? I'm sure the players are sensible enough to realise that whilst they contributed to turning BRFC from a non league team to a league one. They themselves were converted from non league players to league one players by BRFC.
