i think the longer it takes for taylor to sign for someone else the better chance we have of resigning him? i dont know but i feel like if all these so called top teams had put a decent offer in he would have jumped ship already? i know we have a right to match any offer but if for arguments sake a top champ team offered him 8k a week (which i dont think is breaking the bank for alot of champ teams) would we really be in a position to match that? just thinking out loud so to speak there's been a couple of articles in the Evil lately about The Sh1t signing Tomlinson. Yesterday they were going to play the long game, wait it out then make a move if he hadn't signed for someone else before the season starts. Today there's speculation that they will offer him a 6 figure signing on fee, plus massive bonuses for goals and wins, they would have no problem coming up with the fee (the Dukes money) but are not keen to smash the wage structure, said to be a max of 10k p/w for any player. I don't suppose you'd think the Sh1t are a big Championship club, so most would be able to offer MT at least that. If that's the case I don't think we should try and match that, it could lead to discontent in the dressing room, and one of our strongest points is team harmony.

MT will stay if we match his money offered. What that would be I am unsure. I would imagine 15-20 a week in championship but might be less for an untried player? 10k? If we can afford it through Wael then keep him as we know he is effective, works hard and is integral to our play. Matty is not just a finisher, he's the most involved in all our forward play and his contribution to the team equals or beats his goals scored - and that really is saying something. 2 players who we would not have got promoted twice without - Matt Taylor and Chris Lines for me. Although ALL are legends and are already in the halls of greatness! I'm not sure we should be spending beyond our means so if he goes, he goes. No one will blame the guy at 26 for a shot at fame, we will welcome him home. As supporters, collectively we had little faith in him. We didn't give a 3 year, we as supporters not the club have any right demanding loyalty. Matt has done it on merit. Another 3 months at the start of poor finishing and he would now be at Huntingdon farnborough Dynamo and working part time. I hope we keep him though. £10k a week, or £500k a year, on one player, would swallow up a huge chuck of our FFP-limited budget, and leave DC with limited options to rebuild the rest of the team where required. If we can only keep him by offering half a million quid a year, I'd rather see him go.

f**k reading this sh** in the summer. You've got someone telling us Bodin has been offered a sh** contract and on his way, another telling you he's staying. It seems that James McNamarra is adding to it this summer in the B Post, his articles today read like something posted on here about which players are likely to stay or leave. MT's probably been offered by Rovers as much as any Div 1 side is likely to offer him this summer, and so far no Championship side seems to have been seriously linked with him.

Great news that leadbitter had resigned. Having almost got our back line sorted is a good start.
I just hope that if Taylor does go, we find an adequate replacement. Would be a shame for rovers to go back to the team who are great defensively, but don't score enough goals.
Just out of interest, does anyone know how much Lambert was on pw before leaving?

Matty will stay with the GAS but there will be a "get out & sell on clause"if he does it in League One he will be worth a fortune. He has only had one season in the FL still got a bit to prove. IMO

Rumours were he was on 5k a week and our highest paid player ever.

He will get offers but they will be considerably less with the option of a better deal if he proves himself. Pick the wrong club and it doesn't work out and he'll be straight back down to league two next summer. Stay with us and score goals in league one and he'll get a much better contract over a longer period and we'll get a fee.

However, I could never tell anyone what the truth was. Integrity is everything and it's unprofessional to disclose so not even by PM, so don't bother! I did hear that Jeff Hughes was on 7k and lines was on 4k. As rumour, I never saw their earnings.

He said I know player X earned this much for a fact but I won't tell you.
I heard a rumour Y and Z earned this much.
How is that a problem? What have I missed?

I'll keep an eye on your contributions and get an idea how the pros do it.
