Seriously, don't ask. I will pm him and be warned, I will delete any post answers this question. Not that this was the diet (I believe), but I will re-tell something DC revealed. After we got stuffed 4-0 away (at Hartlepool I think), DC wanted to rip into the players. JW instead sat them down for 15 minutes and talked about lifestyles, and living/eating the right way. That night (or the next day, can't remember) some of the players ended up out on the Widdle. Instead of bringing this thread back, we would be better taking a look at what people were expecting/hoping for this season. Many peoples minimum requirements were a lot lower than 2nd, and plenty said top 10 this season would be a good start. Well done DC. To be honest Centenary I thought we'd be mid table but having seen some of the opposition, I can understand why we are up there but you still have to beat these teams and it is a fantastic achievement to be in this position. We still have a long way to go. Onwards and upwards.

Nobody gets impressed with so-called "Told You So" threads, can't we just be happy DC is doing well. Maybe we should bring up one of your "Ellis is a disgrace on Twitter, and he should go out on loan" threads

For those that doubted Clarke...! Darrell Clarke's barmy army! Too early IMO to be pulling these threads back up. If we fall into the playoffs and don't go up, people will then tell you they told you so...

Regardless of what happens from here on in he has done a good job this season. You know what some people are like. If we don't go up they will revert to the 'Clarke should never have been employed after last season'. I agree he is a doing a good job.

Was there a watershed moment when he started to win over the doubters or a drip-drip effect of the wins?
Don't ask me though, I'm too much of an idealist and even wanted Martin Dobson to succeed up to the point of Denis Rofe taking over!!!

Don't ask me though, I'm too much of an idealist and even wanted Martin Dobson to succeed up to the point of Denis Rofe taking over!!! I missed the first few games of the season and so I had real doubts based only on results. I would say that gradually over the first 4 or 5 home games I was being won over. I can't remember the game, but there was one where we were behind and DC made a good sub and also changed our formation and it completely changed the game. It was then I thought, wow he may have something. I can also remember thinking about other subs and changes he'd made in other games and thinking that I'd agreed with most. It was around the time that there was speculation that if DC lost the next game he'd be sacked. (Braintree??). I thought about it then and couldn't honestly think of who would take over and do better. I Don't think anyone was wrong to have misgivings though after relegation and the poor start. Very glad NH held his nerve.

DC broke the season in half by saying the top 5 at Xmas thing. That went to plan so I was fairly happy from then. It's funny how a single result in mid season can sway people's opinions so much! Like one week we're 8 points off Barnet with a game in hand and we are defo going to catch them. Then draw one and its doom and gloom!
Let's hope DC doesn't get off to a losing start.....the threads are predictable. Shame we can't drag up a Trolls and Lennie thread from when we were 13th in lg1......
