Wont surprise me to find out the Matty Taylor got an agent whos thinks he on to a money spinner. Taylor should be with his team mates. If he keeps this attitude up, he will lose respect of all gasheads. Problem for MT is who will be his team mates this season, as if his Agent can't come to an agreement with DC then it won't be Rovers players? Plus I doubt he'd be allowed anywhere near training until he puts pen to paper.

I would expect us to be looking another striker regardless if Taylor stays or not, think we need more fire power

Lets just wait until all the facts have come out before you hang him out to dry.

not surpirsed he hasnt turned up for training, would you go to work without being paid? One of Geoff Dunfords big gripes was that even when players contracts ended on June 30th, the club still had to pay them until the end of July. If that's still the rule, MT should really be training today (unless he's got a sick note from his mam).

Not really a surprise considering he doesn't have a club.

In reality, he'd only be at training today if he's finalised a new contract with the club. As it stands (unless something has happened which has not been announced), MT is currently unemployed; hence you would not expect him to be at training today.
Hopefully he will still re-sign with the club. All today indicates is that - if he is to do so - he has not done so as yet.

Plus no other club have announced his signing so there's still a chance he will re-sign.

Plus no other club have announced his signing so there's still a chance he will re-sign. Although this is obvious when you think about it, it's actually a very good point. I'm guessing he's gone back to the club to say "look, I want to stay, I really do. If you can possibly up the offer to x then I will stay". I certainly think that, at this point in time, he obviously hasn't signed for anyone else (otherwise it would have been announced) and therefore his preferred option is probably to remain. I'm assuming a deal hasn't been a agreed as yet (as I'm sure we'd have announced it). Therefore, I reckon he's probably been made an offer to that's too good to refuse, even though he'd love to stay here if possible. Ergo he's probably speaking to the club today (and DC now he's back from his honeymoon) to see whether we can possibly up our offer. If we can't I've no doubt he'll be off and will "reluctantly" accept the other offer. Therefore, I reckon it's highly likely we'll know by tomorrow/Wednesday - and maybe even late on today if we are able to match the offer or it's a flat refusal from us to do so.

I'm almost at the stage where I would withdraw the offer and tell him and his agent to push off.

I thought that if a player's contract expires they remain under the employment of the club until they are released or they sign a contract elsewhere? I could be wrong.

My understanding could (very easily) be incorrect!

Imagine the stick the club would get if we hear about him not signing through his new club first!
I cant see they would chance that.

If he was keen to stay, he would surely have signed by now. If he does end up staying, it would be hard not to think that Rovers were just his fallback option, not his real choice. Can't quite see how this saga fits with only signing players who really want to be here

Surely if the contracts over, it's over. Yes, I think that's what the Bosman ruling was about. Previously, a club could stop a playing signing for another club even after their contract had ended.

Can't quite see how this saga fits with only signing players who really want to be here Funny how perspectives differ; I'd see it the complete opposite. IMO it's almost certain he's had offers from bigger clubs/clubs higher up. So if he stays, it's because he'd rather be at Rovers than anywhere else IMO. I reckon he'd love to stay, but as it stands he's been made an offer that's too good to refuse. So he's probably going back to Rovers to say; "look, here's the situation; I love it here but I've been made an offer that's too good to refuse. If we can meet in the middle/you can meet it/you can offer me a tiny bit extra then I'll stay". I definitely wouldn't blame him for doing so and would show how much he wants to stay here. We'd also be more than welcome to say "sorry, that's out best offer". IMO, the fact it hasn't been announced yet that he's gone elsewhere shows that he's doing all he can to remain at Bristol Rovers next year - he just needs Rovers to improve their offer slightly due to receiving an offer that's too good to refuse. Just my opinion though

Most likely reason he is't training today is to meet DC and sort out if he's staying or going. I agree with RoverDrive, most likely he has been offered a really good deal elsewhere and is doing what he can to stay
