So give players big one year contacts, that's throwing money away! If your going to sign a player on higher wages than we are paying now, us and them would want it to be a minimum of a 2 year deal. So we would fail FFP next season. How would our current squad feel about a few players coming in on higher wages than then, what would that do for our fantastic team spirit?? Looking at it another way what was the point of getting excited about Al-Qadi's taking us over if we are only ever going to live within our means? Well, for starters, that's far better than we were ever capable of before AND he's wiped the club's debts (certainly something we couldn't have ever achieved before). I also still believe we will get a new stadium, which is also something more than we'd have got under the previous regime.

We are forced to live within our means because the amount we can spend is dependent on how much profit the clubs makes. All the money Wael invests is capital and has no affect on our profits. However whatever he does invest can be used to clear our debts and purchases more capital items (such as new stadium ect.) without reducing our profits (so the profits we do make can be utilised and spent on the pitch instead of clearing out debts). Also the introduction of a new stadium will mean that the club will have more sales through gate receipts which means are profits will be higher in the future. So thats the point of getting excited about Al-Qadi basically...

Nowt to do with profits mate, scmp (or whatever it's called) is bases on turnover only,55% in league 1 I think. edit: 60% in league1,55% in league2.

I didn't mention 1 year contracts, anyone decent would have 2 years minimum like most of L1 teams are offering at the moment. It doesn't mean we are 'going back to the dark days' The players aren't all stupid, they will know that with progression will bring new faces to keep up with the standard we find ourselves in. They have all been rewarded and are happy with their own contracts. Team spirit is probably good at all clubs, its what happens when a group of players spend a lot of time together. The players accepted Gaffney when he started scoring goals and winning matches and urging him to sign on social media. As I said before i'd be happy to tread water in L1 for now, you only need to spend big in L1 to aim for Championship football and I dont think we are ready for that now. I'd be interested to know if we offered Taylor a new contract during last season, you don't see many 25+ goalscorers available on a free. Ridiculous that we wont get any fee for him. That's my point. If you give them 2 year contacts higher than FFP as we are exempt this year, then next year we will still be over, when we are not exempt! Or are they taking a pay cut after a year, so we are under FFP??? Point is we might be exempt this year, however, if we plan on keeping the players for more than a year, we have to stick to the rules this season as well.

The same applies anyway, whatever it's profit or turnover. If we get the Uwe we will turnover more money, which will allow us to spend more on wages. Glad we are doing things right, but we need progress off the field more, to enable us to progress on the pitch.

Imagine having a successful, sustainable football club? I preferred it much more when we were saddled with debt getting relegated to the Conference!

Somebody should inform that lot down the road then. if the rules were anything to do with profit then you would have only about 3 teams in England that could spend anything.

The maximum loss permitted for championship teams, over one season, is 5m or 13m depending on circumstances. That was last seasons regulations anyway. Not going to pretend like I have a clue what their profit figures were but season ticket sales plus television games and sponsorship ect must have been enough to keep them above that threshold otherwise there is no point of having the rules in place.

Yeh I'm sure I saw somewhere they lost 8 or 10 million quid for the previous season, which is fantastically good for them. The rules are like a sieve though and are abused the hell out of by numerous clubs.

Read a quote on here somewhere that we will be getting quality season long loans rather than big transfers in, quoted from DC.
Sounds like this was true then!

No way. No thank you. Not after he murdered his ex wife and her boyfriend and tried to escape in a stolen bronco before giving himself up and then getting away with double murder. Anyway isn't he in prison from an armed robbery in a hotel in Vegas?
