He's a squad player. Will fill in up front every so often from the bench, and as I say on the rare occasion we use that formation he'll play in behind. Every team has squad players, JE isn't a bad option in that regard. You're not gonna build a L1 team around him but that doesn't mean he has nowt to offer. Not sure what else to say
I get what you are saying, but I feel his wages (which must be top-end at the club?) could be better spent on other players who can improve the team. He is a decent player at most, nothing special, but the output we get from him probably isn't worth the amount we are paying him. I bet Gills are playing less for JET and will get far more from him.
I bet they're not paying less than we are for JE. I don't know but I bet JET is probably double. Mind you he's prob a better player!

No way the beard was exhausted. the beard doesn't even run, the universe moves around him. Apparently the earth spins twice as fast it should due to global warming. For the last fifteen years the beard has been holding it back using his own gravitational pull. His apparent lethargy on Saturday was due to the proximity of a planetary alignment. Lazy git.

I'm still disappointed with Ollie Clarke on the weekend. To kick the ball away like that in frustration in the 20th minute and to pick up a yellow card was one of the most unprofessional acts I've seen on the pitch for a while watching us. First of all he's no where near good enough for League 1 consistency week in week out as he struggled in Conf and Div2 with consistency. Bar a long range shot his biggest asset is a crunching tackle and that asset was null and void from the 20th minute. He has no excuse, he's experienced now and from the 21st minute he became a passenger in the game, we played with 10 men. For me he needs to learn his lesson at Yeovil or Eastleigh on loan. First game of the season, he acted like a spoilt brat. Sincs ran his heart out, he had to do more work because Ollie couldn't commit to a tackle which resulted in Stuart coming off knackered and by this point the Scunthorpe team were like a hot knife through butter in our central midfield. Well done Ollie, I hold him partly responsible for our defeat as we had no Mansell or Lawrence to replace the central midfielders and Sincs was exhausted. Unfortunately he does not have the mental capacity to improve. If the management took the trouble to have a camera on him through a match he would be 'on his bike'

Ollie Clarke has obviously improved every season he's been playing under Darrell Clarke; but I guess DC, Marcus Stewart and Steve Yates must have inferior mental capacities than yourself.

Easter was good coming off the bench towards the end of the season, but when you look at it like that,is what we get worth the money if he is one of the higher earners umm.. i'm not sure it is. As for JET I see he scored a couple last night
He did indeed and would have done well for us, but you cant say we should have signed anyone on this forum as you don't know if his girlfriends dog would have liked moving to Bristol!

Didn't JET play for the 82ers anyway so his g/f's dog may well have wanted the move back?
Didn't someobody suggest JET was seen at the Mem during the summer, perhaps there was some truth in that rumour after all.

Wishing Ollie all the best, DC trusts him so maybe a few of us are wrong. Perfect scenario for him to score a long range shot tonight

Lockyer getting carded for pulling back there. Disappointing.
Get him out on loan to Yeovil or Eastleigh to learn a lesson. Am I right?

If the management took the trouble to have a camera on him through a match he would be 'on his bike' Well I just saw him come out on top against a supposedly championship class midfield so maybe his mental capacity doesn't need questioning. I've seen him improve consistently since I first saw him against Liverpool youth. I'm not prepared to write him off or banish him out on loan just yet. I think I'll continue to support someone who I see giving their all for the shirt when they are in the team and supporting his team mates 100% when he's not.

Lines scored a goal we've become far too accustomed to seeing from Ollie Clarke tonight, good stuff from the Bristol lads!

Well done tonight Ollie Clarke, 120 minutes of passion, effort and some time interceptions. Good post, Roadman. And yes, he had a good game tonight. Well done, Ollie! Roadman is clearly being sarcastic here, which pretty much sums up this whole thread, and the manner of some of our supporters. If we wind back 3-4 years, our policy was to sign known players, which back fired as, of course, many simply did not give a sh*t. Thankfully this policy changed with DC, and it is incredible to think that 16 months ago, the majority of the team from last night, were playing Alfreton in the conference. We now have a team that actually care, and work their b*llocks off for the cause, and the net effect of that has been the successive promotions. You would think that everyone would be fully behind the whole squad, and give them all the praise and support that they deserve as a group, but no, there are a number on here who are simply never satisfied and look to find fault. Ollie Clarke may never make it to the premiership, but I for one am grateful for his efforts, his dedication, and the fact that he now trying to adapt to another level up. Will he make it...possibly not, but I think he deserves absolute respect for how he has helped the club, and our total support in trying to step up to this level. Ultimately, DC will decide if OC is good enough (and he certainly held his own last night) but in the meantime would it not be great if we could all just be grateful that we have a squad of players who are 100% committed, and enjoy our current relative success without calling for the heads of some blokes who have played a massive part in this, and who continue to do all that they can for this club.

I reckon the commentators were on a bet to see how many times they could mention us being in the conference. I heard it at least 7 times by the time I started counting. My boys said it was more

Well done tonight Ollie Clarke, 120 minutes of passion, effort and some time interceptions. Just a couple of moot points in the first 2 games we played a 3 man midfield, after approximately an hour 1 of these 3 was substituted, the same player each time,Sinclair, maybe Dc sees more in a player who is disciplined and holds his position than one who a lot of fans think is the second coming, but chases all over the pitch after the ball leaving gaps a mile wide behind him. Tin helmet on for having the temerity to be in the minority
