that DC has waited all summer and into the start of the season to sign? I ask this question because all along he has maintained that his first choices were very much still in the picture and yet when they come from the words they speak they do not sound like they have been chased for a long time so I wonder if he has missed out on some players which IMO is always the big risk of waiting so long before making signings. The other point would be that a defender and a Goalkeeper neither of whom have played at this standard before is not really what I expected to be waiting this long for. I really thought that we would see something to really inspire us in the Central midfield area/striker/winger area but also that it would be players who could come straight in the team and strengthen the current squad. I am not convinced these two will do that and feel that we could have got better or at least up to this standard BEFORE the season started. I very much hope that there will be two more creative players coming in before the deadline which would then make this seem more like good business. I have never been completely happy with Puddy as a no 2 and also have never been convinced with Greenslade as a replacement should Brown be injured but then today when I look at these two deals I do wonder if they will both start tomorrow which IMO would be harsh on Mildy and James Clarke. Have we missed out on DC's intended first choice signings? Will two more still be coming in?What do people think? DC always reiterates he is actively looking to strengthen. He doesn't wait so long to sign players by choice, if he could have signed these players earlier he would have. Would you have preferred us to sign players earlier regardless of who they are?

Strange one is the 6 month loan period which will not reach the end of the season. Anybody hazard a guess as to why this is not a season long loan or is it to do with the Contract he is on at Swansea? Some great points here. Be an interesting couple of days!! The B Post does say he's here until January, I think the reference to a 6 months loan is wrong, as I understood the new rules meant clubs could only sign players for half a season (until January) or a full one (until May). As far as your OP isn't this typical of your reaction to most of DC's signings, complain they aren't good enough initially then have to eat humble pie when they prove they are good enough aka Hartley just in the last week? The signings are what most of us were calling for in the past, up and coming young players rather than journey men like Kenneth, Virgo etc. You sense DC is trying to build is reputation on turning unknowns into good players. We just need a decent striker and CM now, plus possibly a winger to complete the squad.

I think we are ok for strikers? Unless DC has a player in mind like the 'teds Tampax Abraham who will score every week.

we have now signed byron moore, peter hartley, luke james, kelle roos and connor roberts. i think some fans were thinking that with the new owner we would be paying fees for a couple of championship class players but its become obvious that sort of money isnt available for the team.but we kept all our best players from last season and have made these signings so the owner has hardly been stingy with the cash. will these players improve the team? nobody knows yet as we havnt seen enough of them but we will find out in the next few months so heres hoping. Know that for a fact do you?

No there's no chance of any of our lot getting a nose bleed this season..

Highest win percentage of any Rovers manager ever, I'll leave him to it. Surely Dave Penney gives him a run for his money?

True, he did pay stupid money for Blissett didn't he! (stupid as in far off his actual worth)

It would be nice to have a big signing of two, someone to really get the excitement levels up amongst the fans. At this point it's hard to know if Wael's being a bit tight (by alleged 'billionaire' standards) or if DC purposely wants to duck the inevitable pressure and expectation spending a bit of ££££ brings (a la Wenger!).

Let me get this right - people want Wael to buy a player just to prove he has money, wow!

Know that for a fact do you? Came here to ask exactly that. I don't think Wael/the Al Qadis are as wealthy as some have made them out to be but they obviously have a bit of dosh. However I'm confused as to why us not spending = not having money to spend. It's not exactly DC's M.O to splash the cash. To paraphrase what's been said previously in this thread, "if they're good enough for Clarke they're good enough for me", why spend for spend's sake? It's actually quite impressive that some have the confidence to come on here and insinuate that they know enough to question Darrell's work.

It doesn't matter how rich the owners are. We still have to stick to the fair play rules regarding wages etc.

I'm sure Dwayne Sports are spending lots of money back of house. Very pleased with the loans we have got in so far. Wael has a business plan which is already ahead of schedule playing wise, chill out Steve we will be fine.

Don't really seen how it's harsh on mildly to drop him he is a very average keeper at this level and hasn't got a decent save in him any more. Roos said he was first told about rovers interest 2 weeks ago and Roberts was yeovils player of the year last season so I would go as far to say theses are DC's first choice signings.
