one question I have what role does anybody think Will Dubley has played in this recruitment so far ? Good question. It's hard to know precisely what he does, and what influence he has. Maybe he has a bat-cave like structure beneath the Mem, lined with computers and massive screens where he keeps real-time tabs on everyone who has ever kicked a ball, and he runs endless simulations of hypothetical line-ups. Or he might just have an old lap-top with a few post-it notes stuck on it with stuff like 'Moore, quite good, I guess,' and 'James 7/10' on them.

No what I meant was Burtons record signing is £300,000 our record signing was worth more. Of course our owners want to sell the Mem. The three things they want is the team to progress the stadium to be sold and a new one built and proper training facilities to be built. Where have you been ? I am still waiting for 'the team to progress', I think most people realise that Rovers need a central midfielder ( or 2 ) and a centre forward, better than those in the squad now. They will cost, and i dont see any money being available to buy them, with a bit more quality in the team Rovers could have had a point at Scunthorpe ( they arent great) as teams progress up the divisions they need strengthening, its not nuclear science. The progression for me is obvious. Two promotions in successive seasons with a,practically, non league team is real progression. Its way too early to see the progression in this league as we are still in August! But i agree with the midfield from what I've seen so far,and from last season to an extent. Teams go through our central midfield way to easily,as in the Bolton game. Depending on the teams we play, Lines and co will cope but I think this is a weak area which needs a bit of steel in there. Something we have lacked since Stewart Campbell left. That one player will take a lot of pressure off the defence.

Agree with those calling for a quality proven midfielder asap. Even taking into account the new ownership's reluctance to dig into their own pockets thus far (hoping for egg on my face next week), we've been getting near full houses for some time now, and with a little bonus money from the Chelsea game, we should be bringing in someone to give the fans and squad a boost - someone whose name we don't need to google search.

Given the only outfield player signed so far is from Swansea, you do wonder what he does actually do, perhaps the next couple of signings will give us a better idea? As far as CM we're missing last season's best defensive CM, in Mansell, and an experienced Div 1 CM in Lawrence, if they are going to be fit soon could dictate who DC signs next week.

I was referring to the latest signings, but I doubt he had much influence over Hartley's signing given he was also a Div 2 player last season, and if he did assist with Moore's signing it hasn't helped a lot so far given he's been out injured all season.

Was not WD's role to provide analysis figures for rovers games/players but was mostly being a link between DC and El presidente ? One maybe two players to come in before the end of august Most people guessed a keeper and a fullback would come in , it's seems consensus that the next in the door will be a central midfielder. Makes sense if DC is planning toplay 5-3-2 quite often ,even with LM and LL to return I'm sure he wants another so the chosen three know all of them can be replaced if they drop in form. What about the final player ?...what position ? It could be another striker or central midfielder....but don't be surprised if it's a centre back

He could quite easily have said 'put me down,it wasnt my achievement it was DC and I will help to carry him down Gloucester road' couldnt he ? He could have done yes. He didn't though he enjoyed the moment and he had a drink with the fans and every time I've heard him speak all he talks about is Darrell and the boys. Have you met him ? He seems like a very down to earth bloke who's from a very rich family and who loves football and he's bought our club and genuinely seems to have grown a love for Bristol Rovers much in the way most of us have. I'd take that over most billionaire chairman with their talk of champions league and five year projects any day. Mate, I don't know you but your posts, the ones I'VE read are spot on and I fully agree with all you say. We have a lot going on in the background and we have a club that is not now fighting for its survival from the crippling court cases and wonga loans. We have had our 1st ever back 2 back promotions yet some people, I won't mention names, still aren't happy. We have a forum manager who thinks he's better than DC and many specialist analysts who feel they know formation better than DC too. I am bloody overjoyed we are not battling court cases, have a stable and classy owner who engages with the fans and who doesn't hide away like the fat bloke before. We got banned fans back and yes, more than one ! I do not get the bloody sniping and people who still REALLY believe that we can spend our way up. We got a team who fight for the shirt, have pride in their souls and are proper gas. Whats not to love ffs ? I can get wound up at times & it's why I don't post that much in honesty. We got our rovers back. Debt is internal and we were told not to expect the marquee signings. DC would not have signed for 3 more years if he was not happy with terms and having final call on team affairs plus we have kept our top scorer for the first time I can remember anyway. Thanks for your posts mate. I think a few need their heads banging together innit. Up the Dam gas

That's the problem with this forum, whilst some of us are prepared to say "well done" some posters like SteveK & ChippenhamGas/TBone aren't prepared to say they accept the signings are better than they expected, it's almost if they hoped DC fails, it's all a bit odd.

I'm really pleased we've brought in these players they all sound like they could well do a good job for us but I'm not going to get carried away after a couple of bad performances or good ones. Let's give these players a chance to prove themselves, it's a long season and I think the young lads will probably need a bit of time to settle in. I'd be happy to see us attack Rochdale in a 4-4-2 with the chelsea lads on the bench and the Palace loanee alongside Lines. We outplayed and beat Oxford that way and I'm confident we can win many games at home by taking the game to the opposition rather than sitting back and playing like San Marino do versus Germany. Can't wait shame we've got so long to wait but at least it gives the new players chance to settle. UTG.

No harm in a bit of negativity/saying what we think but surely it needs to be balanced when the club seems to get it right, given how many years under NH we suffered with the club never getting anything right!
