It's funny people are saying the midfield needs urgent signings - did all of you go to the Home games v Oxford and Bolton ? We had the better in midfield in both games CLEARLY !
UTG !

I didnt,I only go to away games and not all of them, maybe thats why I see the team under pressure more and that shows in the midfield, and its not an urgent signing i would like to see but a quality one.

i would like to see us get a good central midfield player especially with mansell injured Yes,and although I have thought that Mansell was good the last 2 seasons I dont think he has played at this level ? Any replacement should be better and younger, and that isnt going to be a freebie. im not saying your wrong but people like mansell and sinclair are very good at proving there doubters wrong just ask chelsea midfielder matic how it was that sinclair gradually won his battle with him on tuesday, maybe im being sentimental as ive waited quite a while for a sinclair and mansell at rovers

I think that Rovers have lacked a dominante midfield for a long time, but when Parkes and Mchrystal were hoofing the ball over midfield it didnt make much difference who was playing there.

Last season we weren't hoofing it and by-passing midfield, and we sure as hell aren't doing it this season. Maybe I need to go to more away games - the ones I did Plymouth, Pompey, Notts C - we played it on the deck (a lot). In fact, I was anti - DC when he carried on in the Conference but he has really transformed our style of play. We knock it around really nicely and Oxford and bolton, for the large part, were forced to play long ball against us - credit Darrell and the team !!

Notts County I agree the ball was played around on the deck and at Oxford,i didnt go to Plymouth but Pompey did Rovers even get a chance to play it at all ? and Accrington was as bad,Wycombe not much better. Anyway Rovers in a higher division now and have to up their game. Apart from the friendlies this season I have only been to Scunthorpe,Rovers played some nice football ( no hoofing from Parkes and Mchrystal ) but lacked a bit of quality in midfield or a point at least would have been taken,Scunthorpe arent all that good.

[ Wael certainly doesn't come across as a greasy shithole to me. I know the bloke who carried him down Gloucester Road he he doesn't either. He could quite easily have said 'put me down,it wasnt my achievement it was DC and I will help to carry him down Gloucester road' couldnt he ? He could have done yes. He didn't though he enjoyed the moment and he had a drink with the fans and every time I've heard him speak all he talks about is Darrell and the boys. Have you met him ? He seems like a very down to earth bloke who's from a very rich family and who loves football and he's bought our club and genuinely seems to have grown a love for Bristol Rovers much in the way most of us have. I'd take that over most billionaire chairman with their talk of champions league and five year projects any day.

Good job we've got money now or we'd have kept signing reserve team players on loan!! Christ Chippenham must be a miserable place!

Maybe it's all a front and Waels families fortunes are failing and the only thing that will save them is Asset stripping Bristol Rovers ? 😂

Some of the replies on this and other threads honestly baffle and anger me, have people not been watching us for the last 10 years or more and honestly can't recognise that the way DC does things is a little different and more successful than the way we've previously done things.
Loan signings and free transfers don't bother me one little bit as long as they're the right player, and if DC thinks they are then that's just fine with me, what with him being one of our most successful managers ever.
And then there's the people saying that Wael and family clearly don't have any money to spend! Are you his bank manager? Do you know what is said between DC and the board/owners, no, so to come on here claiming that we can't afford to sign anyone or that we have to spend monies to advance is just nonsense.
With another 2 players brought in this week, be they loans or permanent signings I think we will have a squad that is totally capable of being right where we want to be going into January, the next transfer window and beyond, and we know from experience that DC assesses the squad and adds what he thinks is necessary as the season progresses.
Anyone who thought we would be going out and splashing out on transfers obviously pays no attention to any interviews with the manager, I also think if he wanted to then he would have the total backing of the board to spend money, just my opinion though.

You should post this on OTIB. The fact is hasn't DC been successfully using loan signings and free transfers for the last 2 seasons and look where it's got us !

Thing is we have brought in one or two players every season to make the team better yet you still " don't believe the evolution not revolution bullshit " !!!! I don't know Wael or DC personally but I honestly reckon that the Evolution not revolution thing was the line layed down by DC in a board meeting when Wael and co bought the club, because although he probably knew that by laying his way down there and then it could be 50/50 that he'd be on his way he could see that that was what had worked and that was the way he wanted to manage the squad. Where as most new billionaire owners would just bring in a big name manager and splash the cash Wael being a football man could see what DC has built and decided that he was willing to do it the DC way. He trusted him that he knew the club better than anybody most of all himself and trusted him to "keep up the good work." How many times have we heard Wael say we want Darrell to " keep up the good work " ? Pretty much every interview. Im not in the know and I haven't got any sources but i know my club and I'm a good judge of character and that's my gut instinct and my opinion. It might all go tits up and we might go down but that's what I reckon has happened and I'm on the bus and I've been enjoying these last couple of years doing it the DC way. Let's hope it continues. Lets hope that you are right,I think that you can go so far with free signings and lets remember a fee was paid for Gaffney and Blisset. I think that I am a good judge of people and I dont rate badge kissing or getting carried shoulder high at celebrations for someone elses achievements ( DCs) people like that are usually greasy sh1thouses in my experience, but maybe this one is an exception. Seriously, you're a good judge of character and you accuse somebody who's basically saved the club from Admin as being a greasy sh1thouse?
