War of words breaking out: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37257165Swindon Town head coach Luke Williams says he is "saddened" by Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke's criticism of Swindon's ticket charges for their rearranged league game on 20 September. Saturday's initial match was abandoned amid torrential rain after 60 minutes. Clarke called charges for new tickets for the match "absolutely disgraceful". "It hurts me because it is my club and it's upsetting to hear somebody talk about the club in that way," Williams responded, speaking to BBC Wiltshire. "It saddens me to hear the words but I imagine the words are born out of emotion and out of defence for Bristol Rovers and the fans. "I look at it from a Swindon point of view and Darrell will look at it from a Rovers point of view. That's healthy. He is concerned for his own fans, quite rightly. "I understand the enormous cost involved in staging an event and, no matter if the game is finished or not, we have a huge bill to cover." Fans reacted angrily on social media to the news that refunds would not be offered for Saturday's game, and adult tickets for the rearranged meeting will cost £19 to 25. In a statement on Wednesday, Swindon chairman Lee Power stood by his club's decision over the tickets. "While we understand supporters' frustration, what happened on Saturday afternoon was an act of God and beyond the club's control," Power said. Rovers have offered returning away fans free coach travel to the County Ground for the League One encounter. So he's clearly as big a tosser as the chairman then. Either that or he's sh** scared of losing his job if he speaks out of turn. Glad I'm not a Swindon fan. A thieving owner and a spineless manager doesn't seem a particularly good fit.

Your manager didn't put over a Bristol Rovers view.He said "For me it undermines football. It's general punters that miss out.I'm certainly not happy about that".Suggests to me he was talking about all fans that were disadvantaged at the game.Wish our Chairman was as thoughtful as Darrell What do your fans think of the manager's comments?

Looks like not many are going and those that are visiting Swindon are going for a night out rather than spending money on tickets. Seems that Swindon have badly misjudged this as 3000 fans at half price is worth a lot more money than 300 at full price. Would not be surprised to see the Police get involved when people choose to go drinking all over Swindon rather than go to the ground - will be a nightmare for them to control. If costs are an issue for Swindon I would suggest it should be played behind closed doors - would think this would be the preference of the Police given the chaos they could be facing.

We as away fans are a bit of a sideshow. It's poor to treat visiting fans like this, but the much bigger insult is to the loyal Swindon home fans, the ones who keep the club going, but who for various reasons are not season ticket holders.
I just shudder to think of the uproar on here if Mr Hamer had done the same thing had the match been abandoned at the Mem.

I think their owner is gambling on the great away following we have, thinking we will still turn up in numbers then he can say there you are I was right, I won't be going on principal hopefully the Swindon fans feel the same, and he is left with egg on his face, and of course we come away with 3 points

Can we just charge Swindon fans £19 extra at the home game?

Not really the Swindon fans fault ? Hopefully their owner will want to attend and we can host him on the away terrace during a storm. Certainly would make it clear he would not be welcome in our hospitality.

Can we just charge Swindon fans £19 extra at the home game? But that makes us as bad as them. And it's not the fans fault - they have been treated just as badly.

Can we just charge Swindon fans £19 extra at the home game? Hitting their loyal supporters in the pocket won't hurt their chairman though will it. It would be taking the higher ground and a nice gesture to let any of their fans with two ticket stubs in for half price at our home game. Not saying we should, footballs a business and its up to the money men to make that decision. It would certainly show their club up for the theiving wankers they are.

I just don't prescribe to 'boycotting' Honestly, this was the first fixture I looked to. Growing up my best mate was a Swindon fan and its a derby, an away day that doesn't take up the whole day. Good atmosphere etc. Plus, I want the players to have our support. It's not their fault either. I can boycott the EFL trophy. But I struggle to depart with the league.

I didn't go to the shitfest cup game because I strongly disagree with everything about it but I'm not going to part with my support and loyalty for my club in an important league game because of one money grabbing prick.

That's it. I mean, there's campaigns in the premier league to get away tickets down to £20. How Swindon can charge £25 in the first place is a joke.

There won't be an echo because there's no roof and if it rains I'll get water wet again. But I'll be there because my support for Rovers is stronger than my dislike for Swindons board. The u-23 league cup fiasco is a different kettle of fish entirely as far as I'm concerned.

F*ck me the righteous mob strike again....lets see how many more games we can boycott this season!!!!! True the gesture of say a half price ticket would have been appreciated but lets be honest, that is only a tenner saving....jesus this our nearest thing to a derby this season and we have loads on here insisting they wont go. I guess those same people didnt bat an eye lid when helping to line Abramovich's pockets a couple of weeks ago.
I despair sometimes, all for the sake of the cost of a couple of pints.........

I think there's a time and a place and I would argue:
Reading Under 23s wasn't in anyone's most anticipated fixtures.
Swindon away- probably was.
I won't boycott the match but do suggest we let them know.

You can despair as much as you wish mate, i didnt line chelseas pocket and im not lining swindon. if you think its right to pay full whack then go, i dont think it is so i wont. Nothing about being self righteous, just about treated as a walking wallet for some greedy hunt who dont give a monkeys about football fans, swindon or rovers. As i said i would rather give the money to charity than mr power.

We are a protest Nation, Twitter and Facebook have a lot to answer for. I dont do either but if things are wrong then yeah protest, slave trade, gulf war, poll tax etc sometimes people need to make a stand, but as usual people will cave it and fork out another £30 or £40 notes and mr power will seat there laughing, who are the mugs?
