There is a HUGE difference between what we are offering and what UWE wants. No quick solution here. Not surprising, we want a piece of land which they own, they know we have no alternative and they know our chairman has money. We will be in this situation whichever piece of land we now try to buy, the only difference is this piece of land has planning permission and the necessary infrastructure.

Whilst it might be a case of 'greedy uni tries to get as much as possible from rich football club owner', I am not convinced. I could never see what was in the original project for UWE. This is a large chunk of land with good infrastructure and also next to an expanding university. There will be a price below which it would make no sense whatsoever for UWE to sell. Equally, for the club's owners, this must be a business investment, not some philanthropic gesture. The build cost of 30-40m always seemed optimistic compared to other stadium build costs, and now it seems, the plan is to buy the land too. There will be a land cost, above which the project will not be viable to attract investment. If the maximum land price for the project to be viable is well below the minimum price the uni would be sensible to sell at, it won't happen. I have absolutely no knowledge, but this seems a more plausible explanation for the worrying silence on the project. On a brighter note, Bournemouth are surviving in the Prem with a 12,000 capacity stadium.

On a brighter note, Bournemouth are surviving in the Prem with a 12,000 capacity stadium. Bournemouth are being banked rolled by a Russian Billionaire and even they are now looking for a new stadium, perhaps NH's approach of leasing the UWE land was the only viable approach for the club after all, as we can't force the UWE to give us the land on the cheap, they may not even now want a potential Premiership club on their door steps with all the disturbance that could bring on match days.

Helps being in the Prem for Bournemouth but they're already all seater and we don't want to be forced into doing emergency work on the Mem if we make it to the championship and stick around.

Nearby so went to have a look. More and more lorries moving on and off site and earth moving gear. So as you do, wondered over and asked a couple of drivers what they were up to. One straight away said this is where the new Rovers ground is going isn't it? I said yeah. Is that why you guys are here? No, we are here to start clearing the site for the car park. Make of that what you will. As I said yesterday, if the feasibility study gives the all clear, this development will ramp up rapidly. "this development will ramp up rapidly." Meanwhile, SEVEN months later.......... The "incider" got it right again.......... Oh wait.
